Tires for 19" wheels...
What are some good low profile tires for 19" rims? I searched and surprisingly came up with NOTHING on what are some good tires to run with 19" wheels!
Im pretty set on 19x8 and 19x11 (i think)
Mich pilots are what I run on my bikes and are regarded as the best tire out there but QUITE expensive!! I want something for some pretty spirited street driving!

OEM Tires on the 997 are as follows
Michelin Pilot Sport 2's
Continental Sport Contacts II
Pirelli PZero
Bridgestone RE050
Yokohama Advan Sport
235/35/19 N Spec on the Front
295/30/19 N Spec on the Rear (you can also use 305/30/19 they were standard on the C4S, Turbo's, GT3's)
Most people prefer the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's
I had two sets of the Pirelli's and didn't like them at all.
You can contact damon@tirerack.com he is a board sponsor and a good guy to deal with.

I need same size tires soon. Amazingly I've got 13000 miles on my Pirellis, and may get another 1000 miles if I'm lucky. Have you had PS2's before? If so, how do you rank the Bridgestone's against them?

When my PS2's ned to be replaced I will get the Bridgestones for street use and because of their pricing. I can not justify the price of the PS2's.

All you have to do is go to the Tire Rack site and plug in the car and it will show you all of the Porsche N-rated tires that are the right sizes and diameters. Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone, etc. I think right now the RE050A is the best "value" out there, but in my mind the PS2 is the best. Spend a few extra hundred on a set of tires for a $100k car?

If the tires are Porsche N spec tires any of the brands that fit a Carrera will work just fine on the street.
For 19" your choices are:
235/35/19 front
295/30/19 rear
305/30/19 rear
I drove a Bridgestone equiped car for a week last year on the street and could not tell any difference between it and my Michelin PS2 equiped car on the street.
Personally I'd go with the better deal and get the Bridgestones...they are N Spec Porsche approved...all the Turbo's come with them too I have noticed.

Kenin...I got 11800mi. on my Pirellis. They aren't quite at the tread bar but they are probably just 1/32nd away from them. So maybe I can squeeze 13k out of the rears. The fronts have more than half the tread depth left.
How are your fronts wearing??
I don't know if I want to get a set of 4 tires or just go with 2 new Pirelli's.

+1 on spending the extra money for for the better tires on a Porsche. I had Pirelli PZero's on both my 997's, second time around I pulled the tires off with 70% left and put on the MPS and what a huge improvment. I haven't tried Bridgestone, but I did have Yokohama Advan Sports on another car and was amazed at how good they were in the wet.

Exactly what I'm running right now. PS2s were a bit more noisy. Grip - pretty much the same in the dry. I like the BSs better in the wet.
For use on the street I can't justify the premium in price the PS2s demand.
I've got dedicated R comps (R888s) for real fun anyways...

I had two different C2S's, both came with PS2's, sold a set from the second car with 60-70% left for $400 Canadian to a local PCA member (deal was for best offer, and that was the best offer!)
