Before/after pics. exhaust tips.

placed an order with forum vendor moemistry for some cleaning supplies for my crusty exhaust tips. had to go to the hardware store for one more thing not included in Moe's kit. steelwool grade # 0000

1. i started out washing the tips. this did not change the appearence of the tips but did get the very superficial soot and dirt off.

2. sprayed the tips with ps21 wheel cleaner and started rubbing them with the steel wool. the liquid would dry too quickly so i sprayed some on the steelwool itself and that did the trick.

3. about 5-10 minutes per side got all the soot cleaned up and i wiped them down with a damp cloth.

4. applied the zymol polish and buffed it out with the supplied rag.

5. tada

i have another kit that actually polishes aluminum and comes with a drill attachment and compound. the tips look good enough so i decided not to actually polish the metal.

i have thought about that. the polished look matches parts of the car too. the only reservation i have about CC is they might look too dark to make out their shape. i'd have to see it in person
