Need help! Seatbelt install

I just purchased a set of Red seatbelts, which were advertised with 3000 miles on them. Well, lets just say, when I opened the box, the belts were filthy, with dirt and grease all over them.

Does anyone know of any good cleaning solutions that isnt too strong that it will take off the red dye?

Nick

Talk to a Concours detailer in your area.
go to www.suncoastpca.org (Tampa) and ask them for a recommendation.
email Al at MarinoDetailing7@aol.com (Orlando)

I would recommend not trying to get the red out and if you ever wash anything like seat belts use nothing more than wam water and a very mild detergent. And when I say mild think to your self "would I put this in my eyes"?

Most detergents will greatly breakdown the nylon web and it gets even worse when the belt is later exposed to the sun.

Sorry.

tooth brush, warm water with diluted detergent. if it doesnt do the job in a spot area, you should get a refund from seller. did u buy from a junk yard or on ebay?

id not buy from a junk yard as these ppl dont know how to take things apart and often make a mess during the process.

Good luck on install

Saying this in hope of success, but this is NOT a DIY for the average joe..... Dealer does charge a small fortune for the install, if I remember correctly it was 300-400 range for fronts only... I swapped to silver belts myself to accent the gauges in front.

Yeap, I agree with Mickfluff, if your not really experienced with doing work yourself, then I wouldnt recommend doing this on your one. With that, it wasnt all that difficult, as I finished the whole process of front and rears in an hour and a half.

DeputyDog95 and I talked about it, and and we believe the best solution is extending the belts all the way out, locking them into place, and letting them soak in a very low acidity solution like woollite. Hopefully that will do the trick. This is why I freaking hate buying used stuff. The product is never as advertised. The ebay lsting said 3k miles, and the belts are clearly in the 20-40k range.
