Some more than others, but I agree with you on that.

I have to disagree to a big extent based on the context of the original question. I'm looking for a certain feel and drive and a GT-R or Vette don't provide that. I'm talking nuance here - that to me whether it's got old or new LEDs, whether the bumper has a little different style, etc. is all irrelevant. If you have a 997.1, then enjoy it in good health and consider it "classic" in that it doesn't have those crazy new DRL / Back-up LEDs If you have a 997.2, then enjoy the new / updated features...

I agree 100% with you about taking the phrase out of context, the look of the bumpers does not matter to me and, I like the 997.2, and would probably have one if I didn't just buy my car a year and a half. I was simply making a joke about the GT-R being fugly but having amazing performance for the $, and the Z06 being a made with cheaper materials but again having amazing performance for the $.

Ouch a "classic", that makes me feel like I have an old car.

When I stop getting excited to drive my p-car, that's the moment I decide it's time for an upgrade. As it stands now, I still enjoy mine every time I drive it.

Where is the 997.2 love? If you ask me, they're both nice.. The 996 interior however.. yuk.

I agree with you, but you must be aware that in recent years, many Porsche owners got the car for its image and have no clue about its special driving dynamics.

I think that many people have been buying Porsche for image longer then just the recent years.

I also think the fogs on the old one have a better shape the way they kind of wrap around, they should have just thrown the led strpis in there and it would look great.

First of all I have to say that the .2 most probably is better in all aspects than the .1. The only exception must be engine sound which sound a bit flat.

I think the rear of the. 2 looks good, better I don't know, but more modern. Would definetly consider if a aftermarket company would make LED's for the .1

The new LED foglights, I'm sorry to say looks terrible. Agree that the wrap around fogs of the .1 is a much better design.

The Top Gear people said as joke that the design team at Porsche only works a week every year. With the modest changes they have done, you could agree with them.

I'm glad the changes are modest. I love the looks of the 997 and the difference between the .1 and .2 are minor. I do like the 30 more hp, LSD and lower suspension though on the .2. Just not enough to trade in my 08.

No offence taken. It is quite possible Porsche could have done a better styling job on the outside. But I'm not so turned off by the outside that it bothers me. At least its no 996, with those horrible-in-my-eyes headlights. That said, I spend the majority of my time inside the car, enjoying the benefits of the new features. When I am outside, the care still makes me smile and looks way better than 99.5% of the other vehicles I see on a daily basis.

The 997.2 (2009's) do not have fog lights. Those LED's are daytime running lights, or general running lights (depending on how you have them configured to come on if given the option such in the US).

You are totally correct. What I ment was that the old fog lights made the front look wider and lower, while the new LED cluster makes it look narrower and higher.

Hi,

i really like the look of the new car. The side by side shot really shows how big those new mirrors are tho !.

Would i trade my 08 TT for the a new look S, of course not. I will wait a few years and see where the turbo development goes in regards to engine and gearbox, and accept the look i am sure.

Rgds.
