EVO v-Flow intake installation question
#16
Many people run and have run the EVOMS intake and have had no problem and like the product. If the product was not satisfactory then nobody would buy it. lakerholic, you won't have any problem with your intake since I was running it on my car up until yesterday with no issues. Like Stacy say's, "you will love the sound".

Now if I'd told you that, you wouldn't have given me such a great deal, Matt!!

Enjoy your car, and I'll enjoy the hell out of mine.

[quote=HATTRICK;2289007]It baffles me how the human senses influence its motivation to spend money needlessly.
Yes I agree with this! My wife has been telling me that I am totaly f_cked in the head for years! Now I see the light, and I will have to agree with both of you

As an alternative, I think $$ spent are better served learning how to drive the car in a high performance setting comparative to seeking visceral sound effects at 5k on the tach.
There's plenty of owners claiming no issues with these intakes. Yet others report CELs are thrown and MAFs need replacing or at the very least continual cleaning. It seems like a crap shoot when or if these issues will occur.
By all means, enjoy the hell out of your $100k Porsche car. Just don't come whining to the board if it develops "issues" as a result of these thrill seeking mods that won't make it go a millisecond faster.

It depends on if you get the dry filter or not I believe. I think EVOMS offers both a dry filter with a bag and one without the bag that when cleaned the filament needs oil.

I have both the EVOMS CAI and the Fabspeed exhaust. I have no regrets spending the money on it and I'm 100% satisfied. Does it make me go faster? I doubt it. Does it sound great? You better believe it.
Some people spend their money on expensive clothes, vacations, etc, some of us enjoy spending it on our cars. The OP never said that the EVOMS intake was better bang for the buck than paying for a DE.
Oh, and I did save for my kid's college fund already.

EVO Intake Tiptronic Installation and Observations
Got mine on over the weekend. Sound is WICKED over 5K at WOT. Ear piercing, but in a good way!
Wanted to clear up somethings from this thread:
1) The intake, when installed properly, should not have more than 1/2" play all around. I have no issues with play in mine
2) My 2006 Tiptronic 997 S does not have, REPEAT, DOES NOT HAVE a tiptronic breather line. The install for my car was identical to that of the installation instructions provided by EVO for a 6 speed car.
Now, maybe the non-S tiptronic cars (and, definitely, ALL 996 Tips) have a breather line, but my car doesn't.
I thought this would be useful info for someone looking to add a EVO to their TIP car.
3) I can attest to ZERO performance gain, but there's a wicked sound post-5k that wasn't there before that brings a smile to my face.

ATL, I noticed it when I first installed my EVOMS intake (now lakerholics). The very first moment of throttle response seems to be a bit more noticeable. Not sure if that translates to better throttle response

A couple points of clarification (I knew I was missing something when I posted the last time around):
1) NO MAF Issues. If there have been any CEL/MAF issues, my guess is that these issues were due to a MAF sensor being installed backwards (which is REALLY easy to do if you don't take note of the position of everything when moving from the stock intake to the EVO [or, even, K&N]). I drove the car for over 150 miles this weekend, post install, and no CELs, etc..
2) I did notice improved initial throttle response, especially at WOT (i.e., flooring it).
