Why does our stock suspension stink?

That said.....it is not the GT3 suspension, not the Turbo or GT2 suspension.
If ride height is your main issue, keep in mind that your friends in Washington at DOT are protecting you and your dog with what they feel are appropriate bumper height and headlamp beam angles.
Anyone who's stood and watched the line at Zuffenfausen will tell you it's not difficult picking out the cars destined for the U.S. market.

For what the majority of the cars are destined to be use for, the suspension is superb on the 997. If you are racing.. then a GT should be your car, or you have to upgrade the 997 suspension for that added level you are seeking.
The US also has much worse roads, in maintenance and design. What is allowed on our highway pavement and its design, in terms of dips, uneven joints, bumps, include rates, bends and banks, etc. is well below what autobahn specs are. That means the cars need to be set up differently.

"PASM springs"
Not sure that is possible.....and I assume you are talking 997.2 per your avatar.
I'm sure you understand that wheile PASM lowers the car 8-10mm, that it is not just 'springs' but rather an active suspension system. If you were to order the part # for the springs alone.....really not sure what that would get you.
If you do not have PASM or Sport PASM but rather have stock suspension....and your goal is lowering 10-30mm....I'd be looking at coil-over systems (H&R, etc)......they will provide you with flexibility to set height-rake-corner bal. as you desire....vs throwing something on and keeping your fingers crossed.

+1 on stock suspension being good but..... Like you I was looking to lower my 997 an inch or so. After researching what others on several forums were doing, I chose the Bilstein Damptronics. Until you try something different it is hard to imagine the level of improvement available. Coilovers were the single most effective mod I have done, but they are probably not for everyone. I just had a similar experience with a KTM dirtbike. I took a friends advice and did some suspension work and what I thought was already a good bike, became a sharp racing tool.
