Going Full Hood Bra, Any Pics of 3M on Black
So after hearing opinions in another thread I posted, it seems definitely worth it to go full hood on my April arriving Basalt Black C4S. My installer uses 3M and told me that going full hood will make the orange peel effect more noticeable. Does anyone have a picture they can post of the full hood on either a Black or Basalt Black P-car ? Thanks

Here is a pic of my BLK C4S with 1/3 hood done, full bumper, head lights, wheel wells, with 3M. This is a debate long discussed here and it come down to personal choice. Yes 3m has some orange peel, which is why I didn't do a full hood. I saw a blk cs full hood done right before they were about to do mine and liked the look of the paint instead of the peel. Plus, 3m material isn't wide enough and you will have triangle lines at the top righ and left side of your hood, fyi. The film will scratch and swirl, no matter how careful you are and is why I recomend not doing the full. With 3m you can buff it out which is the good thing. I understand protecting your car, I was all about the full hood to. But as somebody with a black car with 3m, I am telling you you may not like what you see if you go that route.

So knowing what u know now with a black car, 3m swirls, visible line on half bra, still probably going to get rock chips above the half bra, would u even spend the $ 1200 for half bra or just save the money and put it towards rock chip fixes ?? Thanks

There is a dealer on 6-Speed online that recommends Ventureshield instead of the 3M product because Ventureshield is nearly invisible and does not have the orange peel or waviness of the 3M product.

I had VentureShield on my M3 and it does look great and has less peel, until you scratch it, then you either redo it, or live with it, you can't buff it.
I went 3m this time because you can buff it. Look at the picture I took 5 feet away from my car, can you see the line? and this is a black car. It's all about the install which DD did up in NY, flawless.
Porscheman1963, the color of your car is Balsalt Blk, because it is a metalic paint, it is extremely hard to fix rock chips/wet sand the area because it's impossible to get the metallic paint to layer right. So knowing this maybe a full hood will give you peace of mind. I would never have a pcar without any protection because the front will get abused, I'm just saying I had full hood on my M3 and was about to do it on my C4S and liked the 1/3 option better, it's what ever works for you.
