Santa Ana, CA: GMG is once again back in WC with a 3 car effort for the 2009 season building upon their success in 2008. James Sofronas, President of Global Motorsports Group, has announced that he will once again be piloting the familiar blue, No. 14 GMG Porsche 997 GT3 in the 2009 SPEED GT Championship alongside his 2008 teammate Dino Crescentini (Stoptech/Centric Parts) with the addition of Bill Ziegler (Swisher) to help Porsche capture the Manufacturers' crown.
Joining both James and Dino is Bill Ziegler in a 3rd 997 Cup car. In 2008, while James and GMG showed they were a team to contend with as they finished the season 4th in the Championship with a win and several strong performances and Dino showed his potential while running in the top 3 at Detroit as well as qualifying in the top 5 qualifying positions in several races, Bill was running in his 7th year in SCCA Nationals which culminated in a win at the Runoffs last year in T2, although the results changed under a controversial decision. Bill has several race wins in cars ranging from Corvettes to Porsches and has a vast amount of experience that will only help the GMG effort. Bill is supported by his company, Swisher, the world’s leader in tobacco products and cigars.

While GMG will be supporting the effort again this year, Stoptech will be providing the braking components with additional support and engineering from Steve Ruiz, Director of Engineering for Stoptech. Stoptech is fast becoming the world’s leader in braking systems and they have brought along a new caliper setup for 2009 that will make the brakes perform even better!
"2009 will be a completely different season for us as we are a lot more prepared with several days of testing under our belt over the off-season. While the Cup car is new for Bill, both James and Dino are quite comfortable with their setup from last year with a few improvements in place for Sebring.
"World Challenge is the ideal venue for us to compete in. In fact, over the past 2 years we have developed our own 'World Challenge’ collection of suspension and exhaust products for our street tuning line, which was new for 2008. Having competed in the series for many years it was only logical for us to develop products and complete packages for Porsche automobiles. Our success in SPEED GT directly translates into the products we produce for street cars. It gives us a test bed for performance tuning packages that focus on improved handling, braking, aerodynamics and safety while maintaining the comfort and everyday reliability of these highly tuned automobiles.
GMG Racing will be put to the test in the SPEED GT season opener at Sebring International Raceway, March 20, at 4:40 p.m. (EDT).
GMG, the premier Porsche tuning facility in Southern California, develops, tests and manufactures racing and high performance components for both the street and track, many of which can be found on all three of their SPEED GT Porsche 997 GT3 Cup entries. GMG Vice-President/Co-Owner and Technical Director, Fabryce Kutyba, recently announced the introduction of GMG's WC (World Challenge) collection, a line of performance products for Porsche automobiles, which will focus on the 996TT, GT2 and 997 GT3 and RS, 997TT and 997GT2.
GMG’s operations are based in Santa Ana, Calif., in a 15,000 square-foot facility located directly across the street from Porsche Motorsports North America. Additional sponsors and support come from Moton, Eibach, BBS wheels, SSF Imported Auto Parts and Sparco. For more information, visit www.gmgracing.com.
