How to find out a service history on a car.

Is the repair database shared? Can anyone look it up for me?! I've located a good (I think) car and want to check it out.

I'm assuming that if I found where the owner was from and called the local dealerships, they wouldn't just tell me.

There is no central database.

Porsche dealers are supposed to keep your service records confidential, although some might not follow that strictly.

I believe recall or warranty actions are recorded in some 'central' PCNA database. When I buying a P car a few years ago I had a 'friendly' query that database. I suspect due to some privacy laws, etc. you need to be the registered or legal owner to get that info.

Call the dealerships and speak to a service manager. I had no problems tracking the info down for my car when I bought it used this past November.

Just make sure you have the VIN.

Dealerships are supposed to keep confidential information confidential (i.e., name, address, etc. of the owner) but the info you are looking for is not confidential. Otherwise, you would never be able to find out if a car was in a wreck, etc.

When i called Porsche cars north america before I bought my car, they were very helpful. Give them a call, they might give you the info you need. If not, they might be able to point you in the right direction.
