Finally...Pics of my first 997
Hey guys. Just got home from vacation, and my brother finished installing all of my mods earlier today. I bought my first 997 last month, and I have been acquiring mods over the last 30 days. The car was a stock 2005 997, but it came from the factory with quite a few options. I had a Boxster S a few years ago, but I sold it to save for the 997. Let me know what you think of my project.
Here are the current mods:
The factory GT3 front end was purchased from Suncoast. Fit and finish was incredible. I love the new front end.
I purchased the GT2 wing from Blakt Out (Jared), and my brother put a lot of time into cleaning it up. The carbon fiber uprights were dull from the factory, so my brother sanded them and applied a few coats of clear coat. They look a million times better now. I love the wing! Thanks Jared.
The panel to panel fit of the Vorsteiner rear bumper is really good, but the bottom side of the bumper required some creative fabrication. However, you should expect some fab work with most aftermarket bumpers. I love the look of the bumper, and the bottom diffuser is all carbon fiber. My brother applied some clear coat to the diffuser, and it really looks good up close. Kudos to Peter at Vorsteiner!
The Afterhours pipes are LOUD! Wow, the car really booms when you start the engine. Inside the car, you can definitely hear the pipes! I drove it 1.5 hours back home today, and the car definitely attracts attention. The pipes make it seem like you want to race everyone...even when you are going slow! As you can see in the picture, I could not get one of the S-tips to fit the AH pipes. I have emailed Brian, so I am sure it will get resolved quickly. The left side was very tight, but we finally installed it with some WD40 and patience. The right side pipe is about 1/16" too big for the tip.
It is REALLY gloomy/rainy outside today in Ohio (I already miss Mexico), so the pics don't do the car justice. However, I wanted to get some pics uploaded for your enjoyment. Let me know what you think of my first 997. My goal is to have one of the best looking Guards Red 997's on the road
Nick
PS - Let me know if any board sponsors sell the Carrera emblems for the rear decklid. I decided to leave the original emblem on the factory decklid, so I need a new emblem.
Here are the current mods:
- Factory GT3 front end conversion kit
- Cargraphic GT2 wing with carbon fiber uprights
- Vorsteiner V-GT type 2 rear bumper
- Afterhours Pipes
- Clear side markers

if you like it thas all that matters: but you asked so here it goes.
Love the red color, the clear markers, and that gt3 front bumper looks awesome. the af pipes are probably very nice sounding too.
imho, the wing is better off on a widebody and the gt3 rear bumper looks much better than the one i see in the pics.
