Wheel Spacers

Wheel Spacers
O.K this might be a dumb question but is there any performance/handling improvements from adding wheel spacers? Not familiar with this mod at all so would consider it if it adds some handling advantage or is it purely cosmetic? What sizes are optimal and should one do both front and back or just the back?
Thanks,
Jon

+1. There are some theoretical values in widening the track, but I believe it remains unproven. But they look dang good.

Does it makes the back end appear wider? What visual effect does it give?
I am considering doing this mod, should I do both front and back or just the back if I do it? What are the optimum sizes, 15mm back and 5mm front for a narrowbody?

It gives the illusion of a wider track in the back, but moreover, it gives you the illusion of being lowered as it brings the wheel out to the fender.
I had 15mm back and 5mm front. It was perfect IMO.

For me they're purely cosmetic (7mm front, 15mm rear) and I notice the wider track every time I go into my garage to get something.
I think spacers and justatoy's custom rockers would be a perfect match!

For the most part these are going to be a cosmetic upgrade to give the wheels a wider look and better fill out the fenders. Whether or not to run spacers depends on your wheel/tire specifications but if you have the room, I would do front and rear spacers to fill out all 4 corners.

Ditto on what Northvan said. You can also check Boothedesign.com . Very good quality spacers/bolts. I got mine from there.
A lot of our board sponsors sell them, I think that H&R are one of the few that make them for Porsche. Damon@tirerack.com has great prices, and he knows to include the longer bolts.

Here is another source of spacers. I have these on my car. Like others above, I believe the car looks wider and slightly lower with wheels moved out a little, and I also think deep dish rear rims also accentuate the width.

I purchased a Porsche OEM set. Very modest 5mm offset. Works safely with the lowered car (but slightly wider would work as well) but the set also includes matching lug bolts including one security bolt (with wrench fitting) for each wheel. Much like the stock ones. BTW, I purchased them at SunCoast (much like too many other parts!). Good folks.
