Any Feedback on Ray Catena in Jersey?
Hey all,
I'm looking for a 997 C2S coupe for my first Porsche and Ray seems to have a few good ones. Any feedback as to his reputation or any previous dealings that anyone had there?
Thanks as always,
Newb

Friend bought a merc there, loves them - they pick up the car (flatbed) to take for service, leave him a loaner merc. We live on LI - quite a distance, but very accomodating.
I bought my car from Paul Miller - excellent dealer, service. Can recommend them too.

I shopped them and quite a different experience. They didn't have a C4 in stock to test drive so I had to go elsewhere for this. Inventory they had was all packed up with Aerokits and the like but not no C4s. When I came back a week later, the rep was very arrogant and acted like he was doing me a favor when I asked for a price.
Their best offer was 2.5K off sticker on a 4+ month factory order wait. I had a 4K best deal with a 3 month deal. When I told him this he said the other dealer might not come through. Great strategy, don't deal, belittle your competitors. I walked out and was really pissed off. I ended up getting my car for an even better price and sooner than expected by the guy he put down. My two cents.

I'm originally from NJ and Ray Catena is usually considered one of the better dealerships around. As with any car dealership, you're going to get different salespeople with different personalities. Just keep talking to them until you find one you like and that's who I'd stick with. Overall, most people are happy with not only the purchasing experience there, but with the service and ownership experience as well.
I have a buddy who still works in their Mercedes store, I'll ask him to refer me to a good salesperson for you. Give me until tomorrow and I'll try to get you a name.

I want to thank everybody for their candid opinions (both good and not so good) and I appreciate all the help. Just doing my DD before my first Porsche, not to mention getting really excited at the prospect

Interesting. Online their quotes seem quite reasonable compared to other. Thanks for the heads up, though.

I have bought several cars from Ray Catena and first and foremost their service is second to none. Best service I have experienced BUT......they are average at best with lease deals and pricing. Schneider Nelson and Princeton Porsche always beat their prices, at least with my experience. Good Luck

Dealers
My best deal was at Flemington Porsche. They were great to deal with too...no games. I dealt with John Rachmiel in Internet Sales. Their service is great too, very personable. You deal with the mechanic on-to-one. Tom Deitsch is great and so is the Service Manager.
I would shop them again without a doubt. They are first-class and great folks.
