Review: Sharkwerks center bypass 997.2 C2S
Hey guys,
I know its not a major mod, but I just wanted to give my review of the center bypass pipes for the 997.2 C2S, since the most people are just getting there 09 models.
Did some research for an exhaust mod, since I just wanted a nice growl, but not enough to change out the mufflers. There is a muffler bypass, but that is way to loud for my taste, and after talking with Alex from Sharkwerks, I decided to get the bypass pipe replacing the center muffler. The quality of the pipe was top notch, and the directions from sharkwerks was perfectly detailed. One piece of advice, MAKE sure you have a 6 inch extension for the 3/8 ratchet!! I had a 4inch, and a 8inch, and I assumed it would be ok. Very tight fit trying to tighten the top bolt of the exhaust flange, and there isnt much room to to get a good angle to get to it.
I will try to post some vids of the exhaust at WOT later this week. While driving at normal speeds around town and on the highway, you cannot tell at all that there is an exhaust mod. But when you go WOT, sounds very exotic and raw. Fitment was perfect, and the install was very straight forward and easy. Took me about 1.5 hours to install, including cleanup, etc. Cant say enough good things about Alex from Sharkwerks. Took the time to talk to me via phone and answered every question, even though it was such a mundane part.
Oh, and to mdrums, I have no idea how you drive the beast with the muffler bypass. I cant even imagine how loud it is. Favorite qoute from our phone conversation when I asked you if its too loud to talk on the phone while driving. "Um, yeah, It isnt too bad." Automatic red flag! My mom said the same thing when she tried to set me up with a family friends daughter....

I have to put that picture up for motivational purposes. Keeps me motivated ease up on the feta cheese intake. Only problem is, that will will be me when I am 45. Its inevitable, and it sucks....
I actually got a negative rep on it, b/c someone said I was insulting greeks. We're fat, its science....

Thanks for the kind words, and thanks again your business. I'm glad you like the bypass! And I agree about the installation: those back flange nuts are a real chore if you don't have the 6" extension and a 13mm swivel socket. I scratched my head the first few times figuring out how to remove those ones and wrote the instructions as detailed as I could to re-create the final procedure I found that actually worked.
The installation isn't bad if you have the right tools and a decent work area. I've had to swap it out at least a dozen times (!!) so if you run into any hangups give me a ring and I'll help you get it sorted. And be sure to let us know what you think!

Yeah, just trying to be honest about the mod I did and not steer you the wrong way. Sharkwerks was an excellent choice. I am dying to see and hear your car now.
see ya! Mike
