Finally made it!
After 30 years of wanting a 911 and determining about a year ago that the 997 was a perfect mix of not too much modern but just enough modern to fit my taste ... I picked up this gorgeous 2006 a couple weeks ago :
So many fun projects in mind for this beauty.

Slate Grey! I almost picked that color too. Congrats on realizing a dream and working hard to earn it!! The 911 has a way of turning hobbies in to a mental illness, lots of fun projects ahead

Wasn't too concerned with the exact year or mileage - though this one was just over 42k when I picked her up. Exterior is practically perfect, interior only shows some scratches around the console which I plan to replace with CF anyway.
And, of course, the worn/sticky climate rockers. Easy fixes. Don't love the wheels but, again, easy to straighten that one out.
First order of business is to get that old PCM out. I've about had enough of NPR and crappy radio. Afterwards ... plenty else.

You're most welcome.
Unfortunately I can't comment on the issue of scraping with sport classic lip. I can say that I have no issue with mine on roads and speed bumps. I do however need to approach my rather steep driveway at an angle
Let us know what you decide.

Thanks for the link to your Techart springs project. Great write up, info, photos, and review. I have very similar concerns and thoughts about looks of dropping the car as you do. I like how meticulous you are... I have that ocd quality too I do have PASM which lowers the car a little bit compared to non-pasm. What keeps me guessing about doing springs or not doing springs is that when the car is parked it looks 1/4-1/2 inch high to me. Yet, when I let my wife or friends drive my car and I follow along in another car so that I can see it rolling and moving... the car looks absolutely perfect to me while rolling along on the road. My other concern is how PASM will work with lowering springs and if I will scrape the front end too much with the sport classic front lip. If I did springs I would probably want to go with something similar to what you did. So, Thanks again for the info!!

Did you keep the Cayenne?
#1356
I did not. Where I live in Hollywood, parking is pretty premium and very limited.
I wanted to. I really, really wanted to but it just wouldn't have been practical in that ... where the hell would I keep her?
I'd gotten her all cleaned up and prettied for the trade in and that last walk away, I had to snap one more photo :
Around 70k miles I put on that truck. More than any ride I've ever owned. When I I was still playing in a band, my drums traveled quite a bit in there. Always would joke it was the slowest Porsche made - which I'm pretty sure it actually was, just the 6c - but man, it was a fun ride and my first Porsche.
Traded in at almost 115k miles. Who knows what's gonna happen to her now.
But onward.

Well at least you stayed in the family
Cayenne's are really great, and well built cars (outside of the few predictable and well publicized issues).
Whilst I really like my Cayenne, it can't come close to the engaging drive of the 997. So whilst it may be sad to let her go, I'm pretty sure you'll get over it jk

My 2004 997 S Slightly Modified
Hi all, lurked here for a few years but never posted, got alot of good ideas from this Forum for mine and Customers cars,so time to post up my Current ride, purchased this one early last year as a prestine Silver 2004 997 S and preceded to tear it apart (what you do when you own a Hot Rod shop).
Bilstein B16 were added and sharkworks adjustable camber arms etc.
we Made a Stainless 2.5 inch Exhaust for it using Schnell Mufflers and 200 cell cats and fabbed exhaust tips, Yokohama Advan Racing 19 x 11 and 19 x 8.5 lightweight rims were added and at the moment 305 and 245 Faulkins, a Factory Aerokit was fitted, while it was a bare shell we stripped it back to metal and repainted it in PPG envirobase in Slate Grey and Matt cleared the Hood, roof, and top of the Trunk lid just to give it a bit different look some like it some dont but I didnt build it for them.
a Pr of genuine Porsche 996 GT2 seats were fitted and a GT3 Roll cage,I had our trimmer do Alcantara highlights throughout,a few other things I want to do to it but at the moment just enjoying driving it,track days coming up soon, Enjoy the pics.
