Xmradio and NavTraffic

does anyone know how to access NavTraffic? I have PCM 2.0 with the Xmradio from Suncoast and subscribed to Navtraffic but don't see anything that looks like NavTraffic

I have the OEM nav and XM traffic works. If your unit is supposed to be compatible, contact XM make sure you have a subscription. You might also need them to re-send the signal. If so, keep the screen on map mode for up to 30 minutes and it should work.

Ditto . . Call XM Tech Support and have them reinitialize you.

ps. Are you sure you have the NAVTRAFFIC option. It does have an optional hardware box in addition to the subscription.

A few years ago I put a Pioneer NAV headset in a Lexus and needed to buy an optional XMTraffic module (GEX-P10XMT) for that feature. I suppose now it's incorporated within a chip set and that additional module might not be needed.

If that XMTraffic feature is already bundled w/ the Porsche XM option then it should be as simple as an phone call away (activation). If I recall XM charged a extra subscription fee for their traffic alert system.

Per the XM & Porsche press release.

"All 2009 Porsche vehicles equipped with XM Radio and XM NavTraffic come
with a three-month complimentary subscription."

Aha . . . I think you're right on. XMTraffic has to interface w/ the GPS/Mapping system in order for it to display real time traffic info. I suspect the US version of PCM 2.0 and/or NAVTEQ doesn't have the ability to interface w/ the XM radio's traffic info. XM radio is simply ported to an auxiliary input and that supports audio only.

FWIW: Porsche does support a traffic alert system in Europe for PCM 2.0 but they never pursued it or couldn't here in North America.

NavTraffic is only available for the PCM 3.0 (for the 2009+ cars). It's a built-in module that monitors/displays traffic congestion, and will re-route your course if necessary. I don't think it's possible to add it to 2005-08 cars, I'll check for details, but I'm 99% sure this information is correct.
