Cigarette Lighter Coil Cable found, what is it for?

Sorry to ask such a stupid question, but I am a new owner of an 06 997. Tonight while cleaning under the passenger side of the car, I found a coiled cable with a cigarette lighter adapter on the end. It looks like something you would use to charge a cel phone, power a radar detector or what you would use to plug in the OEM air compressor. The only question is, that this is just hanging around underneath the dash. Is it supposed to be there and what is it for? The other end of the cable seems to go through the firewall and I cannot determine where it goes. Thanks for any insight you might have.

I am thinking it might be for the air compressor, but I do not see the other end in the trunk anywhere.

I know the tire inflation device can be plugged into the lighter . It blew a fuse on mine when roadside dealt with a flat tire .

So it is not that air compressor. That has it's own cable inside the unit. So I have this mystery coil cable that goes into the firewall, directly underneath the center of the dash. I have no idea what it is for or where it goes. I tried to gently pull it out, but it is in there good. So I am not sure. Great mystery at this point.

I go to the dealership this upcoming week to have some warranty things taken care of, so I will ask them to try and figure it out for me then.

Sounds like the previous owner might be missing something his power cable for the radar detector.

+1, sounds like a low budget hardwire job. You can leave it alone, remove it, or find a radar that works with it.

Never realized I did not update this post, it wound up being just a 12v accessory cable extender. While at the dealership a while back, they found what it was tangled up with and took it out for me. I have it lying around somewhere now, in case I ever need it. Probably the previous owner used it as part of the battery maintainer they used.
