Taking your Dog in 997.1 Cab?

Just about to close on an 06 C2S Cab and was wondering if anyone here took their dog in the back seat? Would want some sort of seat cover to protect the seats and interior. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

A big towel should do the trick!

Thanks. I was hoping there might be something more custom that would stay in place longer. I use a towel now and it just seems to slide around. Someone told me once to just put a bath mat (with the rubber bottom) underneath the towel first so it holds onto the leather seats better. Might try that.

you're crazy

i'd never put a 4 legged domestic quadruped in my car. That's what an SUV is for. you'll have a hard time, even with a thick towel, keeping the dogs nails from scratching the interior, not to mention, the fur, drool, and seatbacks.

Why not remove the seat bottoms? Then your dog could stand on the factory carpetting rather than risk scratching your leather seating surfaces.

2 black ****erSpaniels here.....w/black interior.
Fold down rear backs for flat shelf......I use rear seat shelf carpet cover you can buy for 993s etc to go on top of that........I rig seat belt connect for their 'car harnesses'.
One wears sunglasses, the other just takes it in....ears flapping.
Great fun

Do you believe......that this forum prohibited me from using the actual breed name of our dogs?

That's great. Was worried with the seats folded that the dog would be too high up. I guess a harness would be the way to go.

Can you tell me more about this rear shelf carpet cover? Where did you find it?

Hilarious about the breed name filtering.

Any dog in an opin car should have a harness....my opin.
Sorry can't recall on the rear carpet piece.....but would have been one of the usual suppliers......any carpet would work but this was perfect.

I did add on it's bottom side....2 alluminum right angle pieces....half of right ange fastened to the bottom (back edge) of the carpet. When you thow the carpet in, the 2 angle pieces duck down the space on the back edge (behind the seat back)....and hold the piece in place.

Thumbs down

I did that once with my Cabriolet and never again. Drowling Golden retrivers and convertibles dont mix. I laid towels down for the inside but the slobber runs down the outside of the car was pretty sick

slobber is always bad but if u remove the bottoms it can be somewhat comfortable and then tuck a big towel in...... or in my old vert id just push the seat as far back as possible (front seat) and have em lay on the floor in front.

Suggest using the floor of the passenger compartment. To train the dog to go into the car properly and lie down, start by putting the dog on a 'down' on a towel, and then repeat the process several times folding the towel (making it smaller)and putting the dog on a 'down' (command) until the towel is the size of the floor in the passenger compartment. The dog should then go into the car and lie down w/o a problem.

My english pointer fits just right in the little jump seat. I will remove the leather inserts next time.
