Check Engine Light?

Check Engine Light?
Hi Guys,
Just picked up my 2009 C4S on Wednesday,
Pictures to come this week,
I've been driving the car regularly under 4000 rpm since my dealer informed me for the first 3000 kms.
Last night while crusing the car the check engine light came on, the car only has 200 kms. I did nothing to the car beside putting gas two days ago, haven't driven it much since Thursday, I immediately checked the gas cap, it wasn't closed well.
Could this result in the light going on or is this irrelevant.
Could I drive the car today till I visit the dealer tommorow?
Did this situation happen to anybody in the past?
Thanks for any replys!
By the way this is my first Porsche and man what a drive love everything about it so far can't wait for breakin to be over so I can see what it can do!
Thanks Keep in Touch

I haven't experienced ths with P-cars, but with Audi's if the gas cap isn't closed well it will throw a CEL. After a few ignition cycles it should go away if it was gas cap related.

I just had the same problem with my 2 weeks old C4S with 348 miles(now 600) My car was idling rough and stuttered during acceleration, and the "CEL" came on. OBD II scanner read "cylinder 3 missfiring". I call the dealer and was told if the CEL flashing stop driving the car, and often time this is cause by gas cap or moisture in the fuel. I was actually adviced to drive the car normally(without flashing CEL). I took the car in to the dealer this Wednesday and everything check out OK. They did have to clear some error codes that the OBD scanner couldn't pickup.

I had it happen last year to me with my new '08 C4S. I believe an improperly closed gas cap is a known cause. Mine was closed properly so I eliminated that cause. I called the dealer and they advised me it was fine to drive (there were no performance issues with the car - just the light going on). I happened to be teaching my wife to drive a standard transmission the next day in a parking lot, and she stalled the car (it lunged forward a few times) and the light went out and never came back on! Hope your issue is no more serious than mine!

if it was the gascap and the problem was fixed, the ce light should turn off. instead of guessing what it could be, buy a obd2 code reader and get the fault read. even better buy durametrics and you can reset airbag lights too. save a trip to the dealer .

Another guess - in my 2007 E350 it was a camshaft sensing magnet(?). Never heard of such a thing, but after tightening the gas cap twice a day for a week, the dealer told me to bring it in. It was replaced under warranty.
