Bingo!

Nice install.

The rear is going to get tore up, but you've got excellent coverage up front! One low center mounted head on the back just won't cut it...

Let us know how the testing goes overall though. Normally two heads on the front are more than enough with the LI. 3 heads is total overkill, which is never a bad thing with countermeasure products I'm sure you're going to get JTG over and over again on the front, which is where it really matters anyway considering the odds of getting shot on the front are much greater than the rear. Great job!

So what would be the ideal mounting point if he were to have two jammers in the back?

One under each tail light. That's where I'm going to put mine.

Those tail lights are giant reflectors and make for great targets when shooting laser. Stealth the car, not the install. That is of course if you actually want it to work I've seen tons of installs where the heads are mounted behind grills, up in ducts, etc etc... Unfortunately for them to work properly, they can't be concealed. The back is a much easier target than the front. You've got both reflective tail lights, the license plate, and generally a flatter, more squared off target are compared to the smooth aerodynamic fronts.

To get good rear coverage you need to have as much equipment on the back as the front. With that being said, chances are you won't get shot from the back so it's not as a big a deal. If you want 360 total protection though with peace of mind, you need to really put some effort in the back placement and use at least 2 heads.

His front install is really good though! And if the shooter targets his license plate only, he should be fine.

Another good on/off switch location is the batwing in the center stack. It's easy to access, it's close to the wiring, and if you ever want to return the car to stock, the piece costs $15 and you're as good as new.

And if you really want to get creative, take one of the dummy switches up top, get a real switch, and convert it for use with the LI. That would be slick.... Probably expensive but very cool none the less.

As an interesting side note, I tried to put an ad for my SR7 detector/shifter system on eBay, and they rejected it saying is was illegal to sell these devices now.

What? That is insane, it is not illegal in all areas.

Try ebay.ca maybe that will work.

Ed: I suppose I could try listing it in Canada, but here is the message I got from eBay.com:
Oops!
The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has made the sale of Radar Jammers and certain other pieces of electronic equipment illegal. That’s why eBay doesn’t allow sellers to list these items.
If you’re trying to list a radar jammer, please do not make any futher attempts to list this item on eBay. We don’t want to have to end your listing because that could affect your account status.
.We’re sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any questions, you can chat with an eBay Policy expert.

but it's not a "radar jammer". I would just list the model number and make. people searching will know what they're looking for. leave the jammer part out.

I didn't use the word "jammer". However, I did use the word "shifter". I'll try again by avoiding that word and see if they have keyed into the model number which I pretty well have to use for adequate description.

The testing results are in:

Stealth Stalker did the testing earlier today and below is what he said on another board. (Since we are talking about my car I'm sure he will not mind me repeating it here.) Seems I have excellent coverage front and rear so I am happy with the install and product.
JTG- Jam to Gum
JFG- Jam from Gun

Walt

PS- Deputy Dog, what were you saying about the rear?

From Stealth Stalker:

"Porsche + LI = total pwn4g3

Ultralyte, Marksman, Stalker, Laser Atlanta R, all JTG with 3 heads to the front, and JFG with one head to the rear. No punchthroughs anywhere.

It don't get no better than this!"

Very nice install, and great info in this thread from all.

2006997C4SCAB, if you're in the DFW area, I'd like to see and hear all the details from you sometime at a coffee get-together or whatever.

Thanks,
Cliff
