Radio Changing Stations - 997.1

Anyone here have a problem with their radio switching stations suddenly(without anyone touching it)? My Porsche dealer has already replaced the radio and is a bit stumped that it keeps happening.

Thanks in advance.

That sounds weird, I have never had that happen.

Do you have any other equipment installed in your car?

Changes station as in the radio station you are listening to at one moment suddenly switches to another within a few frequencies up or down, or say you're listening to 97.1 that you had pre-set to #1 and then suddenly your radio decides to switch to your pre-set #5 station at 104.3?

My radio sometimes changes stations but it is the former - in the Socal area there are various places where just by driving around with my radio tuned to one pre-set, the station that I actually receive can change.

i can second that moz. it hasn't happened more than twice but the last time it happened right in front of my eyes. i guess i don't care enough to take it in for this particular issue.

Do the multi function steering wheels have a station control on them? Perhaps there is a problem with the switch on the wheel.

I've a 2008 C2S, all OEM and no mods (yet) - just Nav, Bose, SE, SC, Memory Seats. If I am on 720 AM the radio suddenly switches to 107.1 FM. If I am on 97.9 FM, the radio switches to 107.1 FM. I'm on my second radio - and it is still happening. To anticipate other's questions, no, I am not on the FM BEST band, nor have I ever even touched the scan mode. And 107.1 is not on any of my presets. The radio just goes there, no matter what station I have it on. I've owned and own many, many cars and this has never, ever happened to any of them.

Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong?

The only thing that I can think of is that there might be a wiring harness grounding issue and the 107.1 FM is the default tuner position.

If you ever figure out what the problem is please let us know.

I had a possessed PCM unit when I first got my car in 2006. It would change radio channels every so often, and was able to play mp3 discs before. Then one day after bringing it in for service, it stopped playing mp3 discs.

I eventually had the whole PCM unit changed and switched under warranty. No more random channel changes.

Thanks a lot! That explanation would make the most sense - I've got the dealer talking to Porsche, so we'll see. I'll be sure to post the answers.

Make sure TP Traffic program is turned off!
This has caused havoc in MA.

Sorry to revive such a super old thread - but did any of you find an answer to this?

Just bought a '04 Cayenne S last month and the past few days the radio (normal CD no nav) has been changing from one station to another randomly - it even re-assigns my preset to the other station!

I'll be on 105.7 (alt rock) - which is a preset - and it suddenly switches to 96.3 (oldies) and now my preset is 96.3 too.

It only seems to happen to 105.7 - and it always switches to 96.3.

It happened 4 times on the way to work this morning - I finally just shut the thing off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Could you put the 105.7 frequency on a different preset slot (not the one that currently is resetting to 96.3)? Just thinking about possible workaround... I'm wondering if the presets just are not sticking, or a specific preset slot is having issues.

Yeah I tried that this morning - then THAT preset switched and got re-assigned to 96.3.
