997S Seat Stain?
#32
hahahaha good one... yet I don't think anyone other than an amputee couple could do that sort of thing on the back seat of a 911.
Reverse cowgirl on the passenger seat is probably your safest bet for that kind of activity...
Yet my stains are in the driver's seat...

Saw a similar "stain" on a black V-Seat, new car on lot. Viewed up close, the holes are whitish, and the stain looked like what coffee would do. My guess is it would always show and impossible to completely clean..
Anyone else that have the V-Seats, please chime in and tell your experiences with V-Seats, please!

My 09C4S with ventilated seats had a very small similar rectangular stain on the passenger seat which I noticed just after delivery. The first time I got in the car after dashing through the rain I got a similar stain to the poster on the driver seat. Similarly after more rain storms. I was hoping they would go away but they haven't. Has anyone brought this up with a service advisor yet?

Would you please let me know how it goes with your service advisor and how he recommends to deal with it?
Thanks!

Also I started getting a low engine oil warning light after driving the car 80 miles? Is this common for the 997s to burn a bunch of oil? The car only had 4000 miles on it? My Mercedes and Mitsubishi don't even burn that much. The Cessna 172s I fly for fun do, but they're planes not cars haha.
Nevertheless, I doubt you had low oil level. That was not an oil/air cooling system in the first place. Porsche changed to liquid cooling in the last age. We've used only half a quart in 12,000 miles on our S. Could a different example use more? Certainly. Lots do. We're fortunate, but using a quart in 80 miles? No.
That light on a current model Carrera goes on when the oil was even slightly over-filled at the latest change. That's more likely than a renter of exotics failing to get their oil levels checked routinely after each random driver.
Now about that speed question... An E55 is 8.95 lbs per horsepower. Call it nine lb/hp with Gatorade aboard. My bone stock Carrera S is 8.2 lb/hp with all usual fluids full but admittedly no Gatorade. The E55 is a nice sports sedan, but it isn't as fast as the 911S even in a straight line. Either you were driving a base model 911 they 'upgraded' with a badge change, or you've made significant mods to your personal E55, or you mistook the feel of the car in a short rental. Wait, you said it was a convertible. An S Cabriolet weighs another 200 lb, but that's still less weight per pony than an E55, and it will keep up with an E55 easily. Maybe it won't feel as dramatic, but I couldn't say.
If you had been in a base model cabriolet, the effect could have been what you felt, but I don't insist they put an inappropriate badge on that car to increase the rental desirability. It might have been a 4S, which is another significant weight gain, but it's also more likely that a day in a rental car simply doesn't match a back-to-back drive or a track test for comparison purposes.
Gatorade in a car?!
Gary, who just noticed the OP spilled that drink nearly
two years ago and really has to start checking
the age of threads before bothering to reply

I am probably going to take my car to service for someone to check this out as well. It's pretty ludicrous to have these "stains" regardless of the type of seat purchased.
Would you please let me know how it goes with your service advisor and how he recommends to deal with it?
Thanks!

Had my sales person, service advisor and service manager look at the seats today. They all agree something is not right, so I'm bringing it back next Tuesday for their "leather specialist" to see what he can suggest. Right now the dealer seems to want to resolve the issue and is willing to go back to Porsche if necessary.

Picked up the car yesterday and the stains are no longer visible. The dealer's detail shop took on the task and did a good job since their leather shop told them it was natural wear. While the stains are gone, the leather appears to have a slight sheen vs. a brand new interior. Originally I was told there would be a $135.00 charge, but the dealer absorbed the cost. The service manager has offered to replace the seat covers if the overall finish is not satisfactory to me. I'm contemplating his offer.
