Used the tire sealing gel - can the tire still be patched?
Got to work this morning and as I got out of the car I heard the unwelcome sound of air escaping from the front driver's side tire...
Patched it up OK with the tire gel (and what a process that is), and pressure seems to be holding OK so far. Question is, can the tire be patched? The nail is right in the middle of the tire so ordinarily it should be OK, but does the use of the tire gel preclude patching?
Any thoughts guys?

Patching is 'OK' is the patch needs to be applied to the tread area. If it's near the side wall its not a good idea. Sidewall flexing might in time cause it to leak.
My suggestion is to make sure the shop doing the patching knows the proper method and uses the right stuff. Your neighborhood gas station is not recommended.
ps. If you track, DE or AX it might not be a good idea.
