Shot of the removed base of the britax roundabout.

Couple of shots of my 15 month old daughter in the car getting ready for her first ride!

Is this a Roundabout 50 or 55? Also wondered if the seat is still safe after removing the base?? It's obviously there for a reason (I just don't know what it is).

Or is it just an expensive baby seat with Porsche on it?

Anyone have one?

Thank you!
I don't think Drew ever ended up buying a 997S..he has a S/Cd M3 that is over 600hp now..what an old thread.

Since no one has responded to my question, I'll just let you know that no where does it state it is safe to remove the base from the Roundabout seat. I checked their website with no answer. Went to Babies R Us and asked the salespeople who I knew beforehand would tell me not to remove the base. Finally, I called Britax who stated the base is NOT removable (although, technically it is as this thread has shown) and should not be removed or its safety will be compromised.

I was hoping this would be a 'cheap' alternative to the Porsche seat, but as I'm sure we can all agree, there is no excuse to compromise the safety of our children to save a few bucks.
For me, I'll just wait until my little girl is old enough to sit in a proper booster seat in the back.

Below are some pictures of a Porsche seat in the back of an 09 TT...prefect fit...we had to pay $300 to install the airbag shutoff switch in the front of my wife's 993 just so my daughter could ride in the front seat.

NO SUBSTITUTE FOR SAFETY....and yes I make her wear a helmet too....well at least when biking, skiing, and ice skating : )

^^^ The cautionary labeling on the seat states 20lbs or over and 27 inches or taller

Below are some more pictures from a similar thread started a year ago or so:

"Attached are some pictures of the one we have been using for the past 3 years or so. We just remove the seat bottom and use it in conjunction with the lap restraint for use in the back seat then the whole unit up front. This seat also has a retractable latch system that works great in cars with the built in child seat latch rings.

The red seat belt is for use in my wife’s 993 for the airbag shut off switch. My 09 997 has a weight sensor on the passenger side which automatically shuts off the airbag if there isn’t enough weight in/on the seat."
