who other 997 owners loved the styling of the 993?
I think the majority of true P car owners prefes the styling on the 997 over the 996 and going back to the round front lights a bit in the direction of the 993..... if the new 2011 998 or what ever they plan to call it took another few steps back to the 993 styling who would be upset? Not me.......
Seems like every amercican auto maker is paying respect to what worked years back (new challenger, camaro, mustang, hemi engines etc etc) and I know personally I would by a new 99+ in a minute of they did this as well. A modern techno marvel with styling cue's that clearly relfected that of a 993 (one of the best styled P cars ever!) would be truly amazing.... the 99XTT would have endless design possabilities....whale tale like rear deck lid and all, agin with a modern twist.
Never happen but fun to dream...thats a car I would hold out for. The relfective c4s strip on the 997.2 is rough (real rough even jagged) idea of what I am talking about....old styling that worked, just don't screw it up like they did with that thin relfector...better then nothing but way to thin....
new 983 due in 2011.......

i like the 993 wide body but think the 993 NB looks rather Weak.
the best looking 911 is the 997 imo. and for the 997, they did go back to their proven retro design. a 998 will be a slight re-tweek of the 997.

I love the look of the 993. It's too bad Porsche did such a bad job on the 996. I had the opportunity to go for a nice 996 turbo, but couldn't get over the looks of the 996. I'm a big fan of the 930, 964, and 993. I feel bad for the 996...it's token ugly child.

Yet hit the pedal on a Turbo and in its time nothing around it could come near it. Nowadays it's still fast 13 years later . It's not like the Current Turbo or base cars but man oh man it was such a thrill to drive .
Polar silver is a color worth special ordering too . So beautiful.

I've heard it said that Carrera's are like Star Trek movies...every other one is good.
For Star Trek you had to suffer through that V'ger crap before they brought out a much better one (Khan yelling KIIIIIIRRRRRKKKK!!!, starship battles, Spock dead, etc.). After that I think they started to talk to whales or something lame like that for the third one...
For the Carrera 930 was great, 964 was blah at best (lost the hips...so sad...), 993 was a classic (wide and mean), 996 took some chances and failed, 997 back to the roots, next model???
If the next model misses (good chance...) then 997 models will be in demand for a long time...if next model breaks the patern and hits it out of the park...well, at least it ain't a 996.
Not looking to fire up any flame wars...just my 2 cents. I am actually more worrried about the trekkies...they might have the skills to actually track me down by IP address. But then again, I'm not sure what they could actually do if they found me...hmmm...check that, more worried about the Porsche owners, they have resources...
In terms of background, I have owned an 86, a 97 and currently an '05 (all C2/C2S), so safe to say I am a little biased...

When I was looking for a Porsche it was the 997 or a 993. I think Porsche missed the boat on the 996 on a few issues, these issues were primarily cost driven. The 993 days were almost the last days for Porsche.
