997s or c63 amg

The 997.
It is so much more fun to drive, you'll double all your gas, oil, brake, and tire costs since you'll drive it twice as much!
In reality, if you drive either 5+ years to flatten the depreciation curve, they'll be close. If you want a car that is inexpEnsive drive, buy a 2 year old Honda Accord.
Also, have you driven both? You are really looking at two very different experiences....
There is an old adage:
If you want luxury, buy a Mercedes...
If you want performance, buy a Porsche...
If you want both, buy a BMW.
I drove an M3 for 5 years and I own an '07 997 C2S and an '07 E63 AMG now. This adage is accurate on all three accounts.

In terms of resale value its better to get the 997s. They don't depreciate as much as Mercedes do. I still see 02 - 03 996's with 40K go for like $40,000. But I'm in canada where cars are more expensive than in the states

I've got to say, I never ever see a C63 on the roads here. In terms of AMG cards, I mostly see E55s and E63s around, and a few others as well. But not the C63. Something about that car that doesn't seem to be selling well.

The M3 eats up some market share , costs less , offers free service, and still is overpriced and isn't selling either . Plus the AMg benz depreciate unbelievably . Although very impressive in straight line off the line speed consumers are demanding more out of a car.
If the Porsche 997 and 997S owners peek at some of the depreciation numbers of other cars they might realize how resillient the 997S has been in terms of holding value .

If you actually want a 911, at some point, you'll have to reckon with that.

I've owned quite a few AMGs car within the last 10yrs and I still have two left in my fleet.
Nothing beats the Pcar, the manual trans and its handling capabilities. Go for a 997S! GL with your decision.

Ask the Benz dealership what they charge for an extended warranty.....I asked this and it turned me away from the Benz
The C63 is a BLAST to drive in the straight line though. It sounds like a good old 70's american V8
