Wax Cleanup

Wax Cleanup
After spending many hours cleaning, polishing and waxing my car I noticed that the random orbital had left some wax/polish on the plastic surround between the windshield and the hood and also on the edge of my hood clearbra.
After reading some internet suggestions (including putting tape on the non-polish areas which I will remember next time - hindsight 20-20 and all ) I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to get these two items cleaned up.
I have tried rubbing alcohol using q-tips on both but to no avail..
thanks in anticipation

I've dealt with this by using a toothpick in the edge of the clear bra to remove residue. For the rubber around window areas I use a plastic dry wall knife and water applied w/ a toothbrush to get it off.
Hope this helps.

Regular Dawn dish soap is regularly recommended for stripping off wax, so you could try small amounts mixed with water and a small brush. I've also heard that peanut oil can be used to on plastic/rubber trim to restore it's finish.

Funny you should mention that. I did the same thing a few months back and have been staring at the white stuff on the windshield base since. I saw a thread about Mothers Back to Black, bought some this weekend and it worked perfectly. Because of the dimpled surface, it took a while with a terry towel to get in the small spaces. I ended up doing the soft top frame trim and other parts. I have no doubt that the Griot's product works well. Most of theirs do. But this seems to be an inexpensive winner.
