Ali - My suggestion would be to learn how to drive the car through some HPDE's in your area. Like a few folks said and some racing vets have told me, the car comes very well tuned from the factory. Once you learn how to drive the car to its limits in stock configuration, then begin your mods. Just my $.02.

I'm telling you the Porsches are fast straight from the factory. Now, I don't see how the CS can compare powerwise to 505hp V10. The fun for me in a sports car is not only speed but in the corners. If your buying decisions was all about the power then you got the GT3, Turbo, and the GT2, and now the Panamerma Turbo...the new 997.2S will probably out pace that M5.

I totally agree, its really about learning the car's true potential. With the M5, I went to the BMW driving center for 2 days & learned a lot, plus I tracked it, so I really felt comfortable. Now I must re-learn to drive this new beast. Went out for a drive on the canyons, in Los Angeles area, & it truly is amazing how she handles the twisted roads, I can only imagine what a Turbo must be like. Top Gear, had an episode, of the Best Driving Road in the World, and one of the cars was the GT3 RS..... A must see video indeed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUF-N8BsBmU&feature=fvw

You're thinking right (imo)

If you want a nice reminder of your 997S's power, hold the revs in 2nd gear to about 4800 rpm and punch it
1st gear although very short is exceptionally quick

Congrats and many miles of smiles...
