New to forum and looking for help
Hi All,
I have been watching the thread for a couple of days as I contemplate buying a used 911. I have located one that is the color I would like and is in the price range I am considering spending. Let me start out by saying, I don't need this car! Actually, I don't need any car regularly as I am fortunate to be able to work from home. I also am fortunate enough to have two cars already. So, needless to say, this is just another toy.
I am looking at a 2006 C2. It has heated/power/memory seats, Bose Sound, TPMS (was this an added cost option?) Xenons with washers and auto dim internal/external mirrors. It sits on the Carrera classic 18" wheels, 6sp manual with 17,800 miles.
So, here is the question. Dealer is offering to sell it for 47,700. It is a couple of hours from here so I haven't seen it, other than pictures. It is a one owner car, the car fax is good with no concerns.
Is this a fair price assuming it is in excellent condition inside and out?
Would value your informed opinions.
Thanks!

Can't help you on the pricing, but I like that specification. It's not heavily optioned, so it should be reasonably priced. The only way I'd buy a used Porsche is CPO through the dealer. Well worth the extra $2k for the CPO process and the extended warranty (read about it at the pcna site under CPO). Most importantly, have the DME readout printed and look at the over-rev counter. If you don't see any or just a little in range 1 or 2, no problem. If you see lots of time in Range 6, run away and don't look back.

There's just so much you can do remotely. You can get photos, a PPI, DME report (over revs), etc. You can even get a CPO report (it's their 100+ point checklist where they go over the car in detail, record wear on brakes, tires, etc.) along with the service records (ie: during CPO fluids and filters are changed, often tires and pads too). BUT, you have to go see the car before turning over your $. I was less than 100% satisfied with the result of one of my remote CPO purchases and ended up going through a lot to get everything fully remedied. It did, but it took some arm twisting. Point being, make your deal, gather your info, and let them know you'll arrive to personally inspect before closing and make any deal subject to that inspection.

Before you even look at it request that they perform a DME scan in addition to what Ron has suggested. (explained here fully on post number 17 ) https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-over-rev.html

if in good condition it's a good price with those miles based on the 05 I just bought. plus you should be able to get a bit off when at the dealer. but don't buy till you see it and test drive. a lot of folks recommend a ppi, i felt comfortable not doing it as the car came with a cpo and the dealer is close/reputable
