About to pull the trigger on a leftover 08 - good deal?

To the OP, I suspect my comments are too late - because it sounds like you are headed to do exactly the right thing and go with the 2009.
And I rarely comment on these topics because financial issues are highly personal. But in this case I cannot resist. Your question below, 'So, you are definitely of the opinion that a 09 C2S Cab (at 22K under MSRP) is worth a $15K-$18K premium over the 08 C4S Cab (at 40K under MSRP)?' makes an important point. This is first and foremost not a study in finance, but rather it is a study in choosing the right car. And a great discount on the wrong car is not a good deal at all.
The PDK 997S.2 is such a much better CAR than the 997.1, particularly for anyone seeking an auto, that this is a low-brainer. With the advent of the PDK, I'm on a personal quest to ensure that no one ever buys a P-car with an auto - unless it is a very special circumstance or a very old car.
Neither is the case here, and, given your locale, an AWD model is lesser from the get go (yes, the rear end is very compelling).
But DFI, higher compression, PDK, better electronics, lots of other minor improvements, with much higher street/resale value for $10-$15K? Geez.
GL BTW. You're gonna love it.

Your deal is not only the best I have ever seen on a new 997S but this thread ought to serve as a benchmark in Porsche buying joy.
You must be thrilled!!!! Congrats . I am so happy for you.

No, Eric at Autogallery was less than helpful. An opinion seconded and then some by others on here via PM who have dealt with him in recent months...
On this same note, I thought I would most a list of salesman/dealerships on the West Coast that came across as stand-up guys in my dealings. Note that I contacted every dealership on the West Coast/Southwest during my due diligence and a couple on the east coast. I hope this helps so people out.
In no particular order:
Adam @ Rusnak (Westlake)
Ken @ McKenna (Norwalk)
Roger @ Hoehn (Carlsbad)
Howard @ Don Rosen (Philadelphia PA)
Matt @ Pioneer (San Diego)
Only one dealership/salesperson was horrible and that was Justin Dang @ Livermore. Steer clear of that ******bag.

Curious what you guys think is a fair price for the following leftover 2008 C2S: black/black, full leather, heated memory seats, sport chrono, bose and a few other small things, MSRP 93,xxx. I forgot to check if its been punched already, but i'll get back with that. Would really like to hear what you guys think is a fair price given the discounts going around on the 09's. If it helps the dealer claims this car is also eligible for 1.9% financing, which implies it too has the 10K trunk money.
#73
08s are eligible for the 1.9% financing but no trunk money. Ran through that myself when I priced the 08 vs the 09 I ended up with... Trunk money only works with the 09s when the dealer takes another car off of port and only about 1/2 the dealers are doing that because many are trying to reduce inventory and most of the cars left at port are dogs.
#74
Thanks, that's helpful. Yes I read about dealers having to take a car to get the trunk money. Regardless, the clearing price of the 09's has to impact this car too i'm guessing. So in your estimate, what's the fair price for this car? Thanks again.

Trunk money is the way to go. Only problem with Trunk money is on resale. Every dealer will know trunk money was involved even if you didnt get it. so the resale is deducted by that much also. But its a great way to go to do a deal I just bought a 09 C2S for 18% off too. BTW I got both 1.9 and the trunk money.
Also CONGRATS Jersey you did the right thing by going 09 I didnt see the specs but I assume you got a PDK instead of the dreaded TIP?
