Please help me price this '07 4S Cab

Hi. I'm planning an upgrade from my '05 Boxster S to an '06+ Carrera S Cab. I'm not in any rush, just waiting for the right car at the right price ... and know that the 2010's will be here soon to help push prices down. I just ran across a car which looks like the right car for me and would appreciate thoughts/advice on appropriate pricing.

* I requested the Option Code list from Loren on RennTech and will post those details when I get them. List below is based on my observations...

2007 Carrera 4S Cab
10k miles - 2 previous private owners, now at dealer
6 Speed
Meteor Grey with black top
Two tone leather interior (black over grey)
Full leather interior
Navigation
Bose
Heated Seats
Sports Chrono
Multi-function Steering Wheel (I think - not exactly sure which wheel option)
Full leather (I think)
Tubo wheels (I think - not exactly sure which wheel option)

Pictures are : http://www.autobase.com/cgi/showphot...oto=0&size=640

It has full leather and turbo wheels. Probably around a 110Kmsrp
Looks good but find out:
-If a brake Flush has been done(approx 600.00)
-Original tires? you'll need new back ones around 12k($900.00?)
-Oil change probably if not done recently($300.00)

Prices have crept back up on these as they are scarce this time of year. I know, I just sold mine last week and after searching for a new one...I kind of wish I had it back.

If it's not cpo's, 2 owner car, and needs the above I mentioned..From a dealer your probably at 68k to 70k during the summer..66k after sept IMHO. From Private party when the 2010's start to land LOW 60's.

Two owners , 10 k miles at a Mercedes dealership ? Before I even discuss price you must get that car fully inspected . DME scan , PPI, and body inspection .

You must also request a DME scan to detect engine over rev history. (explained in detail on page 2) https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-over-rev.html

If clean 61.5 K to 66.5K . They will probably want near 70K . Don't budge over 66.5. Let them keep the car.

Thanks. They originally wanted 73k for the car, this evening I got them to 67k but walked out. I was thinking 65k is the highest I want to go, but that's also dependant on what they give me on trade for my 05 Boxster S.

The trade is what it is . One can always private sell the car . I;m not too familiar with Boxter prices but what are the vitals on that car (mi/options/warranty/ paint/ service history/color/ etc). What would you want them to give?

65K you are in the range. Keep in mind 80K can get you an 09 coupe new . You really that set on a 4s cab?

any input to add regarding desireable options this car is missing but I'd want in the future? I'm plannng on this being a long term DD. The primary one I've seen is perhpas the 6 CD changer, but the option list says it is "prepped" .. whatever that means.

If the DME comes back clean, I'd say $64k - $67k.

Just messing around and came across this car. 2006 C4S Cab. Triple black. 6 speed. 20,900 miles. Private Party sale. Warranty thru 2012. Liste for $55k. Probably get it for $50k. Seems like a really good price. Am I missing anything here?

The '09 is obviously a better car, but financially I'm at the top of where I want to be.

Great catch on that '06 ... I've been all over Autotrader, Cars, and eBay and must have missed that. Going to look into it!!

Let me know what you find out about this '06. Seems like the price is pretty aggressive so I wonder if there is something wrong with this car. If it completely checks out, CarFax, PPI, DME, could be as good of a catch as what I got on my C4S Cab.

Joe -- car looks nice.

Patrija if you end up buying a non CPO car then a private sale like what Joe posted will usually be a better shopping place than a NON Porsche car dealership. Often times an individual owner can give insight into his car along with records and more times than not they tend to feel that their car is worth more than what they have been offered (wholesale).

With price cabs cost more than coupes and 4S cabs cost the most. Miles are very important in terms of resale and so is warranty.

1) when a car crosses 10K miles it does not matter if it is spotless --it takes its first price hit. This is leverage going into any sale.

2) CPO warranty may price a car higher but it does provide some peace of mind if the car is bought from a respected dealership . this is leverage going into a private sale.

3) Private sale car - Look at the car , evaluate how it was driven as well as the owners sentiment about his car . If he wants more for his car he may not really be ready to sell it . If he's too eager then there may be an issue .
An owner can reveal quite a bit about his car just in the way he carries himself.

4) The fact that new cars are priced to sell may be out of reach --but it is also leverage when you say "for 15 grand more I can buy a new car with no miles so lets talk " . Remember .. chances are the guy who is selling his car picked his nose in it at least once and that is leverage too.

BUT overall --price and diagnostics will tell the tale of whether a car is sold or left behind.
