"Headlight beam adjustment faulty" error message

I was wondering if anyone had experience with this error message? The error message lit up a few days ago. According to the dealer, the sensor might be damaged because my car is lowered (too much pressure on the sensor). Not sure how true that is.

Has anyone had experience with this? How much does it cost to fix? Unfortunately, my car is out of warranty...

oregondave got the same message as he reported here:

Not sure if he found his solution. Interesting that I've never seen this issue before and now two threads on this subject in less than a week.

Why would lowering the car affect the sensor? Its a leveling system, isn't it?
