Personalization tweaks that look "Factory", but not "Boy Racer"
Hi. I just purchased my '07 C4S Cab yesterday and already starting to think of ways to personalize it. I'm going to stay away from performance mods until after the warranty is up. Until then, I'm looking at exterior and interior trim ... with a definite leaning towards carbon fiber. My car is Basalt Black, Black Top, Turbo Wheels, and 2-Tone interior of Black and Stone Grey with leather center console.
Looking for suggestions on the tweaks which will look "factory" but not cross (my) line into looking "boy racer". In my mind, the cars with factory carbon fiber (e.g. saw a 2009 SL65 which was drop dead gorgeous) have appropriate placement and balance of it versus the balance of other finishes. Some of the ideas that I am thinking of are:

- Backs of Adaptive Seat - Carbon Fiber? Exterior Color?
- Headlamp rings - Carbon Fiber?
- Exterior mirror inserts - Carbon Fiber?

I'm a big fan of carbon fiber pieces for the interior. I recently spruced up my Turbo Cab with some high quality and reasonably priced carbon pieces from http://www.db-carbon-interior.com/. They are a direct match for OEM carbon weave, and they offer a bunch of pieces that Porsche doesn't make that will complement your interior nicely. The company's owner, Daniel Balsmeyer, is very accommodating and extremely helpful with any questions you might have.

While 100% of my mods to date have been for "GO", I'm now ready to add some "SHOW" as well. Nothing crazy, but along the lines of that you are considering, am interested in making it even more uniquely mine without going overboard.
I personally don't care for the look of Carbon Fibre. So I am adding a shifter and ebrake in Alcantara, currently for $600 at SunCoast, which is just a silly cheap deal. And I will consider painting my rear center console, but for the interior, that's about it, most likely.
Spend some money on things for "GO", like a complete exhaust system (mufflers, headers, cats), an EVOMS cold air intake, a lightweight flywheel, or on things to keep you out of the pokey like a V1 and a Blinder Extreme Laser Jamer.
By the way, if you want to get together to see my mods, let me know, I am in Alpharetta.

All - Thanks for the feedback. As stated in the OP, I'm waiting on the GO upgrades until I'm out of warranty. I'm very much still in the "awe" stage of my car and this will be my DD.
CATT - Thanks for the invite. I live in Midtown but work off Mansell Road. Who did your V1 install? Also, did you have Sat (Sirius/XM) installed? These are 2 things that are top on my list.

On the black car the painted seat backs to exterior color appear stark . What I chose to so is paint the center console to the color of the door handle and get rennline pedals. I also got a Techart steering wheel.
On the white car the seat backs and console painted to exterior color is quite different.

[quote][I don't want to do lips, skirts, wings, etc since the car is "new" to me and I love the look of it./QUOTE]
I am not doing then either . I did them on the Turbo and love the way it looks on that car. I like the understated look of the 997S just the way it is . In fact this is the first time I even like my stock wheels .
As for the ride height --tough one. Part of me would love to place Blistein damptronics on my car but Gf has to drive it up steep ramps . Now it's true taht the Turbo is so low that it takes real driving savy to not scrape the lip. The 997S in contrast is a walk in the park. We'll see.

Patrija:
I can meet you by Mansell sometime this week, as I, too, work off of Mansell in Sanctuary Parkway.
I'll tip you onto the best local electronics (v1, blinders, xm, bluetooth, etc.) installer in town. Plus, you can experience the "go" I've added on a back road right behind Atlantic Seafood. I'll send you a PM with me cell.

Clean up the look of the car, I just finished installing some lighting mods (will be posting how to's shortly) = a cheap and easy couple of hours.
I did the hoen xenonmatch fog lights, their chromium stealth rear turn signals, license plate bulbs, side makers and city lights. I spent under $180, 2 beers and a philips screwdriver later impressed. No rice, just a cleaner look.

So I guess you're a boy racer if you have a Gallardo Superleggera or CLK DTM AMG? That's too blanket a statement IMO. I would've said you have good taste. But, really, it's all in the eye of the beholder.
To the OP: do what makes you happy, and when certain people hate on you like they inevitably will (no matter WHAT visual mods you do), take it in stride because you are confident in your own taste and sense of style. Even with a full $15k+ TechArt body kit, probably only 7 out of 10 people will think that it looks good. Even if it's 9 out of 10, still, the result is that it's impossible to please everyone.

This is what makes us individuals....not every single person will like what you have done.I would hate for all of us to have the same everything,LOL!
Which is why this satement holds true:
"You can satisfy some of the people some of the time but you can't satisfy all the people all of the time"
Stacy
PS I did have a Techart bodykit(fit awesome) but hated the look on MY cab, which is why I built my own sides and rear spats.
Can't do it any more personilzed than that,LOL!
