If you hold the paddles in --it will agressively downshift . Mike did share this and I tested it after reading his post.

Larry - that's actually pretty common behaviour in self-shifting transmissions (notice I didnt say a....matics...!). In a slush-box Benz if you hold the shifter left as you hit the brakes it'll stay in the gear you started in until you let go and then go straight into the right one.
And because that's an adaptive box it'll detect if you're punting along and shift down to a decent rev range. I wonder if the old Tip did that as well?
