gt3 bumper vent on non-gt3/aero bumper?

I've got an image, but it's on a 997.2... I personally think that you shouldn't put one on before you put any Lip Spoiler on the bumper...

I thought about it.. for cosmetic reasons.. and then after researching the subject and finding some good images of how the vent is installed on the stock GT front bumper cover, decided against it.
With a stock bumper (which I want to keep for ground clearance reasons), you need to cut a hole in the cover. But the internal structure to stiffen the cover around that opening and then provide the proper place to screw down the vent is missing. You would have to build it up yourself. It is doable, but its work and in the end, I decided to not do it.
One can make due with some plastic wire clips or other things to wedge between the installed vent and the bumper cover, but these solutions are not as strong and stiff as the proper factory solution, and seems like would just cause an issue down the road.
If I come accross an old GT bumper cover some day, from which I can harvest the support structure, then I may rethink my decision and install the vent.

Cayman Club forum had a full DIY with pics on the install some time back that was very well done and looked stock when it was finished. The project was not for the faint of heart but looked do able with a little attention to detail and a steady hand.
