Update to Monday's teaser post: 997.2 exhaust content inside.
So when we left off on Monday, our 997.2 was up in the air on our lift, looking something like this:
Today, she's still up on the lift, and 99% done. So I guess it's not a teaser anymore. Now, don't get us wrong, there are a lot of excellent aftermarket options out there for exhausts on the 997.2. Our hats go off to the companies out there who've taken the time to develop them, especially as we now know first hand how much time and effort goes into getting it 100% right. What you see below is our 997.2 exhaust system nearing completion. Our goal was to develop something with the following qualities: distinctive sound, excellent fitment, versatility, and cost effectiveness. So far I think we've hit every mark.
First, for weight reduction we decided to eliminate the side mufflers entirely. I'll have more information about weight savings and total weight of the system vs stock soon, but off the top of my head I'd say those side mufflers save about 15-20 pounds per side, for a total of 30-40 pounds!! Next we focused on sound. "How can we get that distinctive race car sound while keeping the system civilized enough for daily use? Oh and we are not having any of that highway drone with one of our systems!"....these were all things things we had to keep in mind. It was decided that by using one single center muffler with a straight-thru yet refined design, we could achieve that goal.
Overall we are very happy with the way the system turned out. We have a few minor things we want to add to it before we release it, but for now, enjoy the pics!
For those who I know are going to ask....we'll have sound clips as soon as it stops raining, weight savings information as soon as I replace the scale I broke, and dyno numbers as soon as we can get them. For now, enjoy:

NICE!
I did the Fabspeed side muffler delete so that I just use the stock center muffler/resonator. Same look as your pictures but it is loud, drone at 2000-2400rpms, it's nice but for some would be too loud. I love it at the track though.
So, I am extremely interested in your center muffler pictured above. Please update me with it's internal design as the stock center muffler/resonator has 2 tight u-bends and I always thought someone should do something like the Sharkwerks crossover pipes and perforate them and build a muffler around them...or some sort of chamber system like Flomaster uses....basically anything to straighten out exhaust flow.
Please let me know the price and hopefully this single center muffler system will be less money than 2 mufflers and provide more power....bang for the buck!

Actually, you'd be surpised. It's actually quite subdued compared to how we normally like our cars. We wanted to build the "best of both worlds" exhaust....street and track.
They're a excellent tire for the money as a street tire. Even for the casual track driver, they'll work very well. But if you're serious about tracking your car, I wouldn't suggest running them regularly. If you're used to PS2's, the Invo's will take a few laps to adjust to.

So far we've put about 75 miles on the car and we're really pleased with the results. No drone whatsoever. It's nicely mannered in the lower rpm range, and opens up to a nice growl up top.
Once we have a few systems built, I'll see what I can do about getting a cutout showing the internals. What I can tell you is that it's a dual straight through design, with 2.5 inch inlets and outlets, which taper down to 2.25 in order to fit OEM and aftermarket tips. It's designed to be free-flowing to keep the exhaust moving, but also to do it's job as a muffler and keep sound levels in check.

I'm working on it. Had to give some attention to the EVT700 build we have going on in the shop right now, so as soon as I get some more pics of that and handle a few other things, I'll try to get some video of the exhaust. At least a startup and revving clip.

That is 100% correct. There is no u- Bend within the muffler. Its a straight trough design

Great, next week I am driving down to Lauderdale/Miami for business via Daytona, Pt. St. Lucie and W. Palm route. I would love to stop by and see and hear this in person. Could we work something out?
