PDK question

PDK question
When in auto with sport mode on, the PDK is shifting very hard (slams into gear)when up shifting from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3. This only happens when accelerating rapidly only. From all that I have read the shifts should be smooth and seamless. Anyone else notice this?

Agree . The shifting is still more smooth than a manual but doesn't slip like an automatic . Plus under hard acceleration the transitiion is quick to give every advantage to performance.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess my car is in good shape. Now that the 2k miles are done, I just started playing with the power of the car and I can't believe how fast the telephone polls go by.

I am a total track rat so I highly suggest to really enjoy the car and learn the car to it's fullest or at least what your skill level is and learn from there is to go to some DE's at a track and also do some auto cross. Porsche has a awesome school in Birmingham AL. I highly recomended it. These cars are deceptivly fast.

A lot of people have complained about the jerking motion that occurs from 2-1 when in sport auto mode. Is that what you are getting? Many have said that their dealer has fixed it with a software update and others find that the dealers say there is no update. I had this problem and my dealer was no help. When I hit 2400 miles the jerking completely stopped. I have no explanation as to why. My car is an 09 CS2 with pdk.

There's a TSB for PDK in "limp mode" with a software update from Jun '09. Whether or not this, if applied to an otherwise healthy PDK, would change any other behavior is not verified.
I don't think a manual downshift is any smoother, just that no one would manually shift into 1st just before braking the car to a dead stop. D-Sport will shift to 1st before stopping - do that manually and I bet it feels the same.

The really strange thing is that my car has virtually stopped the "jerking" just recently. I'm not sure whether it was the software reload that I had done earlier in the year, the DME control module that was replaced due to transmisison emergency run error, or the fact that I've been just driving the car much harder and mostly in manual mode for the past several months.
Whatever the cause, I'm just glad that it seems to have disappeared. What I get now is completely acceptable and more in line with what some have said is just characteristic of this type of car. In other words, it's still not silky smooth -- but that never was my complaint.
