Question 305 vs 295

Hi guys,

I'm curious to what you guys think about putting 305/30/19 in the back instead of 295/30/19. DO you think it would be negative in any way? I kinda liked the idea of having something a little wider.

My other question is has anyone tried the Nitto Invo tire?

Thanks for the help.

I have both 295's and 305's and there isn't much difference. You should have no problem with the 305's.

Do a search for Nitto's, there has been a few reviews on them.

Only thing that comes to my mind is that the sidewall balloons out more on the 305, and some don't care for the look. Nittos have a pretty good rep, but I don't have direct experience with them... hopefully others will chime in for you.

I much preferred my 305 versus the standard 295. It gives just that much more protection for the lip of the rim and otherwise, I saw no negative side effects.

The offset of the wheel you are using is important. With the HRE P40s I have on my 09 the offset HRE uses for the narrow body brings the 295 tire right to the limit of the fender. A 305 tire would extend past the fender which I don't think looks good. So if you are using spacers or your current offset brings the wheel out further than OEM the 295 may be a better choice.

Check my turbo wheel thread for some shots of the 305's on the 11" rims. The look pretty fat on the rims. Depends on the offset of the rims, as mentioned before. On less than the 51 turbo offsets you should be fine. Really doubt there will be much, if any, difference in traction.

The 305's are a perfect fit for an 11" rim. The issue of it looking like it is bulging is when you run a rim with a large rim protector. With the Pirellis the 305's look great on the car. Its funny people talk about bulges yet the OEM 235 on a 8" rim is even more of an issue than a 305 on a 11" rim.

Heres a pic..

I am also interested in the Invo's. If this a leased car (as mine is) you may have an issue on turn in as the Invos are not N rated although the speed and load rating match the N rated OEM tires. The Invos I have been told are about 95% equal to a PS2. They are extremely quiet and have good grip but the sidewall is alittle softer than the Pirelli or PS2.

I'm interested to read more feedback on Invos too. I dug up an old thread and while there was a video from GMG regarding the design of the Invo and general consensus has been positive of the tires on OTHER cars, there wasn't much feedback from users of the tires on the 997.

I just put invos on my S63 2 weeks ago, put about 500 miles on them and love them so far, quiet ride, smooth ride, and holds the ground when you throw the pedal down, the tread pattern is soooooo freaking cool too... so far im very happy with the tires, I usually use TOYO T1Rs , these are greaaat tires also...I will be putting 305s on my new wheels

I found this article where Car and Driver did some tests on certain tires. They were helped by the people at tire rack and placed the INVO before last on their competition. I wonder if the fact that TIRE RACK doesn't sell NITTO tires influenced the Decision.
