I purchased my m roadster, new and just sold it, I do have more than 5000 to put down. i just wanted to to keep some liquid. (for mods )

I am a bit enamored with the idea of picking up new 911. but i think and 05 06 a smarter decision esp to modify.
This clarrifies a lot . Please understand that this forum has seen it's share of dreamers .

Your inquiry with these new aspects reveal that you might be able to buy the car . I oppose the lease idea , especially for a student , and even moreso on a Porsche .

I do feel you would have to plunk down as much as you can to reduce the finance charges . At least 20 percent and ideally an outright buy would be the route . CPO would be a MUST. You will also need savings for routine wear and tires.

This is not a cheap thing to do and I would advise to save your
money as much as i love these cars . You are young , school is a priority .You'll have the Porsche soon enough .

Sub4 is infamous around these parts
Another angle to consider is depreciation. In 5-10 years you'll likely be starting a family, trying to buy a house, etc.. You may have to part with your car, and it will be worth half of what you paid for it. Meanwhile, if you had picked up something that has already suffered big depreciation, say a 996 turbo, you will be able to get more of your money back.

Either way they aren't investments, but the point is when you're stretching that far you need to consider your exit plan before you purchase.

If you up into modding the heck out of the car - get nicely maintained CPO 06/07 car. Do not get `05 or search here for threads about what engine numbers do have updated design - it happened I thin kin the beginning of `06. Preferably look for cars manufactured after 06/06 - they will have most recent versions of NAV and PCM components.

Buying brand new 09 or 10 car and putting it out of warranty by heavily modding it would be rather stupid thing to do I guess. It all depends on how far you would go and what do you want to do.

Same as choosing 'S' or not 'S' - if you know that you are replacing everything from nose to tail including breaks, shocks, etc. - perhaps goal is to get original base car as cheap as possible. On recent event I spoke to a guy who bought his race 911 for $12K and then rebuilt it for total of $200K in mod costs in 2 years.

A lot of folks here are very excited about new PDK, I am personally not sure if it is such a bright idea on buying into completely new DFI engine on its first year of production, but on other side plenty of folks got it already and no one got any issues so far. May be it will be great exception from a general rule, who knows.
