What are my options for sway bars for an 08 997? Im looking to get into DE and AutoX more and want my car to be the best it can!

 

We nearly always use the RSS sway bars (they're hollow like factory) but 50% stiffer and fit the factory bushings (so they're not noisy). They're also adjustable 3 ways.

We've used the H&Rs in the past and the draw back is that they're solid/heavier and larger diameter using noisier bushings. The front bar isn't adjustable either.

 

that looks like a great option, should those be good with PSS10's?

 

We developed our own proprietary bars, we use them on our cars, and they have been used in Grand Am ST as well. Hollow and quite adjustable. Center is 50% stiffer than factory GT3 and the holes adjust in 10% increments.

These bars, in conjunction with our stage 3 revalved/resprung PSS10s are what we run on many cayman S turbo cars and on our shop 775 Blitzkrieg car.

Please consider that very seriously - try to run into your first auto-x/de on stock suspension. Learn to ride it. Speak to instructors then, try to ride with them in their cars and only then decide - do not let this forum modding mania to give you any perception of what your individual perceptional reality is.

You car is already way above the best you can, most likely.

 

I have been out on the track before with my car... my car is too high, and leans like crazy. Not only on the track does it lean, but on the street as well! I was placing right up there with the instructors, time to get my car the way I want it... THE BEST POSSIBLE!

 

RSS adjustable sways all the way. Include some adjustable end links and your good to go.

 

I would leave it stock for a while and work on your driving skills. Work with good instructors and listen and practice.

A pro driver took out my 997 at my last DE and I was amazed at what the car could do in stock form.

After a long while I would start think about mods. And I don't think sway bars are the best place to start.

The money you would spend on the mods would be better spent on more DEs at Watkins Glen and NJMP. (As I see you are in NY)

With an 08 997, you already have a car that is better than many right out of the box.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but, if you have body roll, especially a "crazy" amount, isn't it likely you're doing something wrong? I was told by an instructor that on these cars on a properly executed turn (slow in and fast out) body roll shouldn't really be an issue.

I was told same exact thing as you plus more - stuff track setup is not a plus for auto-x but quite opposite. plus generally you need to know precisely what is it you want to get out of your suspension and why before you start messing with it.

I like toying with my car and making it better. Obviously my car can outperform my skills, that is not in question. What WAS in question was what sway bar to get, but I just purchased some RSS sway's. Thanks guys!
