Working w/out of state Dealer + Transport

So, I find a P-car at an out of state P-dealer and am now wondering do I work directly with that dealer or through my local P-dealer? I have no long term relationship with the local P-dealer.

The local P-dealer says he can find me the 'right' car anywhere in the U.S.; I believe that is true. However, whom do I negotiate with - local guy or out of state guy? I figure the local dealer will charge me for the transportation (or bury it in price of car), and I really wonder what kind of deal I can make - don't understand how the dealers work this out (any information on how that process works is appreciated)

I think the better option is to work with the out of state P-dealer, negotiate price with them, and then take care of transit myself. Thoughts?

Lastly, do any of have experience with a reputable transport company (covered) that I should use?

Thanks to all!

I was in similar situation, but I had a trade to contend with so that would be double shipping and a real pain.

I just found my car at another dealership and had my dealer get it and sell to me at the same discounted price.

Big discounts out there today so just get best deal for you. If I did not have trade I would have hunted down best price. I thought I got a good deal 3 weeks ago and now even better. 20% off is not hard to find today.

Local dealer should honor best deal you find plus shipping.

if you find the car you want exactly at another dealership, deal directly with them. this is exactly what I did. Find the prices of similarly equipped cars so you have a refererence which dealer is willing to negotiate more and use that to leverage yourself when negotiating the car you want.

shipping was a breeze. I ordered my car from NJ and had it shipped to south florida and to be honest the process was easy as pie. hope this helps. PM me if you have any questions.

My car was located in MD and my dealer in NJ got it for me at the good price we had negotiated. I assume the dealer exchange cost something, but it was included in the deal.
