Just put Bridgestone RE 760 on the rear, handle very well, not as well as Porsche N rated tires, but at $230.00 for 295/35/18 that have treadwear rating of 340 you really can't lose. Maybe tirerack has them in your size.

Tks and how much should I expect to pay for the fuklkl set of 19" V12s. I'll use it as a benchmark. Here in Europe I just have paid 1000 Euros (almost US$1500) for a couple of rear PS2, not even N rated! That was all mounted, with geometry check etc, but I'm still a bit stunned.

things are real expensive in Europe. I think Hong Kong offers very very competitive prices. I was quoted HKD22,000 (usd2,843) for a set of 19" Corsa System, AD08 is above half that price !!

Tire Rack has them for:
Fronts - 235/35/19 - $158/each
Rears - 305/30/19 - $219/each

Set of four will be $754 plus shipping ($70 to my location), mounting and balancing.

Basically it would cost me about $925 total for the tires, shipped, mounted, and balanced.

I was asking about that before - 235 and 295 combination on my car feels like a severe understeer. 305 will be even worse. Something tells me that 235 in front is a bad option but Porsche recommendations insist on that. Does 245 or 255 fit properly there on 8.5" wide 19" rims?
Is there enough space there to physically fit 255 wide tire anyway?

I am putting the Invo's on for my next tires. Those huge rain grooves will be fantastic in the wet.

I also liked how he talked in the video about a wide temperature range. Here in Reno we have the cold (high-mountain) mornings and the warm/hot desert days. Not uncommon to be 20's/30's at night and 60's/70's in the day.

The solid rubber on the outside of the tread looks perfect for track days. Has anybody tracked these and care to comment?

And the price is soooo right compared to the others.

Glad I found this thread!

It's funny, no tuner, not Techart, Cargraphic, any of them, ever spec a 911, even with over 700 hp, with more than a 245 in the front. (of course there will be some exception) Anyway, it is interesting. Also, stock rims are only 8". Only the TT rims are 8.5". You can easily fit 255's on an 8.5" rim, but VERY few tuners ever try a 255 in the front. I guess understeer is solved with sway bars.

A 255 tire to really be supported properly should have a 9" wide rim, don't go above 245's with a 8.5". I found the 997 likes a little braking into the corner to put some weight on the front wheels to get more bite. You are asking the same questions I did 3 years ago. I think a 255 would look sweet on the car like the cup cars.

I would still be careful in very cold weather as they are listed as a summer tire.

Well, I am running auto-x on 19" 235/295 combination and struggle with understeer. So naturally it is a question.

May be I just should revert to 18" stock 235/265 sizes. I was told more than once that best auto-x setup is a square, or as close to a square as possible. may be 245/265? Or 245/275?

AutoX is not the best venue for the 997 as like you say they like to push. Sometimes I don't know if even a larger tire would help, as there is not alot of weight over the front of the car. I wouldn't go with a smaller rear as off throttle oversteer will probably rear its head...which could help if you use it right I guess to get the nose pointing in the right direction.

I thought "N rated" means approved by Porsche. But, if PS2 are not "N rated," I guess I don't know what "N-rated means? Can someone education me on this?

Thanks.

Amerlemans - I am looking forward to seeing your photos appear on a post - I am thinking of a set of F14's as well for my 997 - like you in Titanium, they will go on my white 997.

You can have PS2's and other brands that are in the same model and size but one can be N spec and the other won't. The tire manafacturer works with Porsche to develop a tire to their specs. So you can have a 235/35/19 non Nspec PS2 and you can have the same size that is N spec. They will be different tires...
