997 cab S vs non S
#16
I have 7 and 10 year olds, they love riding in the back seat. BUT note that the back seats in the cab are tighter than in the coupe. I've seen kids in the back of cabs, but it doesn't look comfy.
Most interesting compliment I've gotten on my car more than once? Boy, those red brakes are cool! Seriously, drive and S and a non S. Try the sport chrono and the PASM suspension. They feel a bit different. If you don't notice the difference that much, why spend the money for the S? I noticed the difference, wanted to make sure I had PASM, wanted the TT brakes, wanted to make sure I had Xenons, and felt I would miss the power the moment I got a non-S. Buying the non S and spending $5k trying to get the power doesn't make sense to me, then you're also $4k short in the brake department. After all the mods, the resale is still non-S. Get the S and it's always more desirable for resale, especially when you keep it a low mileage car.
Indiana may be a tough market to find a car. Not sure how travel and shipping fit into your budget.

And even with owning a garage queen,I am like you....and wouldn't have wanted that "S" ringing in my head either!
As far as PASM...I had it disconnected by the dealer.I always found myself driving in the stiffest mode so I opted to save a few $$$ and buy a set of coil-overs that were not PASM compatible and adjusted them to the point that I always found myself driving in!
Just my $.02...
Good-luck and either car will be an enjoyment to drice on those nice days!

I am willing to fly and drive (or ship). Any recommendations with 3rd party inspections and shipping?

I buy CPO'ed, have gotten good deals and now drive the heck out of them. Thats the point of owning one.

Why spend more money on a car to get all these great extras and then work to keep the miles low. This is always mentioned on this forum but makes no sense to me. Why buy a car and start thinking about resale?

How old was it and with how many miles when you bought it? Is it correct that there is not any way to check for a failure... they just recc more frequent oil change and 5W (vs 0W) oil?

You sound like a good candidate to C2S. If you get non S that nagging voice will eventually become so loud you'll be thinking about the upgrade

Also, I've heard mixed things about the Porsche cpo. Dealers say it is a direct extension of the original warranty, but I've read of people with electrical problems (I can't remember exactly what) that weren't covered.

I'm really worried that I'll begin to hear more than one voice, but the other one will tell me to hurt myself! JK

Passion/emotion often prevails over logic when buying a sports car

I had the car for 320 miles. It had just been cpo'ed and undergone inspection. I don't think you can inspect for it.

I don't know the limitations, but Porsche CPO may be worth it for a piece of mind. These cars are not cheap to repair

If you didn't say "sports car", I'd swear you're talking about wives with both of these.
