Carrera and Carrera S major difference

Dude I only have the OEM plenum in my car.
As for other things, you won't get 30hp from a aftermarket plenum, flash, and set of mufflers. If the Dyno results showed that, then I think that something has changed, it could be temperature, barometric pressure, amount of tension on the tie down straps. There are too many variables to use it to calculate small changes, and if used then perhaps one shouldn't trust the results to 100% accurate. It is a measuring tool, and measuring tools aren't always accurate due to the variables. I guess this is why people say measure twice cut once.

I agree about tie down straps factor but from my experience it never gave much of variance plus dyno guys who strap cars one after another everyday most likely do it in pretty much same way, but, for what it`s worth, some variance is unavoidable. Nevertheless, I tried to make it as repeatable as possible, in regard to other factors, naturally, no one can guarantee absolute correctness unless engine is taken off car completely and all runs are done in the lab under controlled parameters.
Nevertheless, it was done to satisfy my curiosity and I have achieved that. How to treat actual dyno data is a matter of personal choice, but one damn thing is for sure - just to ignore it is quite difficult.
Plenum and flash and cats and mufflers do make some recordable difference, even on a C2 car.

Hello people,
I just got a 05 C2 tip
1. engine has less HP and torque
2. door sill w/o S and the odometer is black
3. black caliper instead of red
4. tips are different
5. sports chrono comes standard with the S?
6. brakes are bigger?!?
If I chip, plenum, and catback exhaust. Can I beat a stock C2S?

The OP didn't say he was adding cats, he only mentioned mufflers (from the Cats back). If he had included cats then I am sure a number of people would have a different opinion.

The real gains on your car come from the Cats, a little from the ECU Flash, the rest don't add HP, they just get the HP to were the original specs are.

I do not care and not taking mine off to prove anything. Just making fun. What is it between you and that plenum, anyway? Seems like everybody got it now but you. Surrender to majority, North.

I think that the Plenum is a very nice looking, well built and finished. I decided not to put anymore mods on my car in the spring, when I decided that I should have a GT3. So no a different Plenum will not make it on to my car. Since you asked, I would have been a plenum owner about 18 months ago, but there was a series of tests conducted and I didn't feel that the results were worth it to me to spend the $ on something that would only provide very small increases in power. I also don't have a flash on this car as I had one on my first 997 and it didn't do anything. I would sooner spend the money on the suspension, some really good tires, and a lot of time at the track. All that track time has really shown me what are the right mods for me and my cars, I am not convinced that adding 20 - 30 hp on these cars is going to make them faster around the track.

Set of coilovers and R compound tires would probably cost similar amount of money and most likely would make more track difference, that is correct.
But I do not track it (yet), just auto-x for fun and I am just not sure I even want coilovers for a DD car at all at the moment, it will most likely just complicate my life and make this car more inconvenient in the city. Most likely I will put on GT3 LCA to have -2 camber in front later on, will see.
Nevertheless, having 27 more pounds of torque at 4.5K rpm feels pretty good on a street. Disregarding actual numbers that new torque curve angle between 3.6K and 4.5K rpm - that is the major tuning effect and it was worth every penny spent on it. It feels very good in all regular driving conditions.

I already have more torque, which kind of brings us back to the OP's question...I have an S.
As for CO's I have the Bilstein Damptronic's and the are totally livable in the city, and great on the track. I know you don't have PASM, but again, another reason I have a S

hmmm guys please no wars here. I was just curious between the regular C2 vs C2S and wonder if I am able to catch it up to a stock C2S ( tip ) Since It's all tips here. I wanted a stick but couldn't find one. 95% of the porsches here are TIP and this is just the way it is over here in Asia. I drive sticks in L.A but that's of course with bigger roads, smoother, and much much better traffic. Even If I want a stick 09+ porsche I think the dealership here wont allow the order unless GT3 or GT2. Or I could do the parallel imports but it is some real hassle. Anyway, I had plenum on my 02 996 3.6 tip and I could really felt the HP and TQ gain right away. I assume this applies to 997 as well?! I just bought softronic and waiting for them to send the file to me. Since my car doesn't have Sports Chorno. What can I say? I hate tiptronic but it is way out of range to get a PDK 997 now. I am just going to enjoy my C2.

3.8L engine has more capacity. And turbo car has more capacity than supercharged 'S'. And Bugatti puts em all together into ****ter. My advice to you - enjoy what you`ve got, mod the heck out of it for your own fun and donot envy anything else out there as this list is endless.
PS In case if you did not notice - point of that exchange above was partially in the fact that this most recent dyno run I did shows I have way more torque than stock 'S' and more HP as well. So those funny guys now suggest it was a broken dyno and Saturn in a wrong phase so it does not count. He-he.

I am quite reasonably confident ESP dyno is accurate and provides correct numbers. My stock car readings were on par with stock C2 reading I could find over the internet so there is no practical reason for me to question my reasonable confidence and assume runs in August to be fine and runs in September to be not.

Ain`t it great to be reasonably confident?

I'm a little confused by this thread. Utkinpol, I took a look at your dyno graph and they seem reasonable and inline to me. You're showing ~285rwhp whereas stock 997S is ~300rwhp. What am I missing?
#45
So, it is just an another empty baseless assumption? Or you have your own personal mods 'ending' scale what you think should matter to outside world more than actual dyno graph from a certified dyno stand?
