Personally, I wouldn't get a new car off the lot so I don't take that kind of a hit anymore as I already had on my '06 S that I bought new. Talk about depreciation - my car had an MSRP of $122k (the Powerkit was a big factor in this) in March, 2006 and I don't want to really find out now how much it's worth.

It reminds me of a 2004 994 C4S I bought in Dec '03 - the original owner bought it for $89k and change in Oct '03 and traded it in for a Ferrari. I walked in by chance at the Ferrari dealer, saw the car and bought it right then and there for $75k with only 425 miles! An almost $15k depreciation hit on 425 miles and <2 months on the road.
All valid points...but have you seen some lease deals on the '09's. If purchasing, that is something different but if you are leasing-new is still the way to go.

What is LSD and how does a 997S perform differently with versus without LSD? Is LSD available on 911s prior to 997.2?

Thanks,
Jim

Lostturbo - I made the same change in May. Went from an 08 C2 to an 09 C2S, both 6-speeds. Took a hit overall but managed an excellent discount as the 09 car was an 08 build so essentially a year old already.

And I went from a non-S to an S but putting that aside all the small changes make the car much more liveable as a daily driver. The .1 PCM and center console looks plain old and clumsy once you move to the new one.

You do loose some of the nice engine noise though. To me the DFI just sounds more metallic, but maybe an aftermarket exhaust would do the trick.

Bottom line - happy with the decision.

If you really want new car - what is the problem? It`s a good time to get one.

From practical perspective if you replace '08 manual 6sp with '09 PDK+SC - you`ll get something new and in this case it is probably worth trying if you`re into it. manual '08 vs manual '09 - makes no practical sense to me.

Now that the car has been around for a year, do you guys find the new car worth trading up for?
Particularly interested in what the guys that live these cars (tuners etc.) have to say.
Advantages / disadvantages welcome.
I would wait for the all new 911.
