Dension Install

This is a VERY important step! Thanks, Dave.

Go to CD6, this is the menu. Use the << >> keys to navigate through the options and then HOLD the >> key to select it. Go to >>Source and then select GW instead of Ipod. The system will drop you back into your main menu and you should then be able to control the Ipod from the PCM and should have song text as well.

All of this info has been great and you guys are a wealth of knowledge. However I am having a problem. My 997 does not have a CD changer. I took it to the dealer to enable CD changer (first time the service dept has done that and had several options so this COULD be my problem). Then, they installed the Denison 500s bt. They did an excellent detailed job fitting the unit behind the PCM. They pulled out the MOST wire (the extension loop to the front boot) and directly plugged the Denison into that opening. I have power and it recognized my BT. BUT... no connection. Each time i turn on the car it reads: "NO CD CHANGER". Any ideas of what the dealer is missing? They are very frustrated. Thanks.

The easiest way to go from the trunk to the battery compartment is via the grommet behind the carbon canister bracket and CD changer:

FYI, I installed my Dension unit below the steering column on top of the knee kick panel. As for wiring, I tapped into the power socket on the passenger side. I did have to remove the head unit, but I did not have to mess around with the trunk and running wires through the firewall.

After 2 weeks, so far so good.

Installing it inside I believe is the best way too, you can tap the power directly from the Fusebox as well, you can use one of these "Tap Circuit wit Dual Fuse holder" $12ish

Great Post!!!! a lot of usefull info here.
I just finished installing mine and at first I was going to install the unit in the trunk but didnt want to run wires into the car.. so i removed the head unit and like another member mentioned, theres enough room. so i went a head and installed it.. pretty easy process with all the help from this post. however the interesting thing is that just to see what happens, I plug my iphone and played pandora...........i got sound!!!!! i guess i dont have to go to the dealer to activate the cdc. (my car is not equiped with cdc) I spliced the optical wire from the head unit itself

I mounted mine in the front trunk so I can access the switch that disables it.

I understand that plugging in the PWIS computer by the dealer to check for error codes would show a failure of the CD changer so I want to avoid that and have quick access to the switch on the Dension that disables it.
Having it in the front trunk allows me to flick that switch for dealer visits.
