997.1 6speed S cabriolet- how desireable is sport chrono?

I don't consider it to be an important option. The whole timer setup is a waste of time IMHO due to its complexity. So the only other feature is the re-mapped throttle which I never found that useful or necessary. Sport Chrono is one of the first options I could do without, followed by the Nav system.
as of sport chrono - if you ever plan to re-flash ECU then you`ll get this 'sport' mode turned on with a flash.

regarding navigation it probably depends of where you live and where do you drive to. i cannot imagine going in MA without navigation, it is used pretty much on daily basis, to locate place to drop off kids for party, find a restaurant, drive to casino in CT, etc, etc. and I hate any external units hanging out. to me this 3K expense to put nav system in was one of major positive car upgrades.

it depends of location big time... remembering my routines in MO, for an example, i would understand why people there may not need it at all as most addresses are quite easy to find there without nav - i never used it ever when I lived there, simply dod not need to.
here back in MA it was needed all the time, not even as much to know where to go but just to keep track of where are you right now at current moment.
one thing i really do not like about Porsche nav is WHY they did not put a pre-filter to select current state prior to town/city name selector. It is realy quite ridiculous. All the rest is as good as in any other nav IMHO and its sensor is better than one in garmin - it works much better in forest and in downtown between tall buildings.

actually I dumped sport chrono on the Boxster RS60 Spyder in favor of a C2 with PCM/navi and more interior room. I drove the Boxster always with sport mode on and suspension off, for the most part. Cincy roads are too rough for the PASM but I liked the throttle response.

I have always had Sport Chrono. It would be the first option I would order. I hate the little "wart" on my dash but I really notice the difference in the throttle response when the SC is turned on.
Drive the same car with the SC turned off and you will feel the difference.
I really don't think Porsche should charge extra for this option however I would pay extra for the "bump" delete!!
