Original brake pads&clutch at 53k miles

With regards to my 2005 997 at 53K miles: Due to mostly highway driving, my clutch and brake pads have not needed replacement yet. Tire replacement is another story. Pretty good, huh?

Wow amazing haha. I'm at 39k with original clutch and brake pads. Hopefully I can get to at least 45k-50k before I need replacement.

I went through two sets of rotors and pads in 6 months last spring/summer!

I would like 53K out of my brakes.

Sounds like a personal problem, Ed.

Be glad those aren't PCCB rotors at about $5k each.

Yeah, that would be expensive.

The biggest problem with the OEM steel rotors is the cross drilled rotors will start cracking when the heat gets turned up!

I still have 30% left on my original factory pads on my 99 with 73,000 miles. It's all about how you drive. I drive with my gears more than my brakes.

I would imagine that gearing down and letting back pressure slow me down be tough to go fast on the track

73,000 miles on a set of brakes is very impressive!

Yeah, all street driving here. For the past 2 winters, I've planned to put new pads and discs all around but they just won't wear out. Which will come first? Blowing my engine or needing new brakes?

It's also hard on tranmissions and clutches.

How so? If shifting properly, there is minimal wear to either.

I will find a way to wear your brakes out, come visit Stacey and let me drive your car, a few laps around the track and those babies will be smoking!

I can vouch for NorthVan's brakes...he turned the beautiful red calipers to ugly 'baked black' without painting them,LOL!!!
He is disgustingly hard on brakes.....!

Car and Driver once said, "if a corvette has to be driven like a chevette, then what's the point of owning one?"

Step on it a little.
