I'll take a look when I get home today. I will see if they are angled or not.. thanks for the input. I believe the guy tested them since he has a radar gun and a laser to test that he installed it correctly.

I have to agree as well. The heads should be squarely facing foward with even a slight protrusion from the lip of the bumper for maximum shifting effectiveness.

I just spoke to the installer at length and he disagrees that they have to be perfectly square. I appreciate the input, but I will trust the guy doing the install considering his reputation and knowledge of doing this for a very long time and has one personally on his car. To make them square if I desired it, he would have to recess them more into the grill and this could get them blocked on certain angles. He assured me the way the sensor works, it doesn't need to be square.

All good and understand the logic. Post your thoughts on the system as you get to know it. Always intersted in learning from people actually using products. Also, saw the pics of your car posted on another thread....it looks really nice!

I will tell you I have witnessed lots of testing with lots of different LIDAR guns and jammer brands. Your head angled like that you will get punch through and very long distances. Escort shifters and not the strongest and they must be aimed correctly our you will be toast. Join a Radar forum and see if a group is doing any testing. Here in Houston they do test 1-2 times a year.
We do you think your installer is going to say? Yea I did a crappy job on your car. Bring back when I am having a good day.
If he has a LIDAR gun then ask to test it with him some day. I promise you will not be happy with the results. you need to 3-4k feet away to start your testing.

Yea Mike, that makes perfect sense. I would not call and talk to Cliff at Laser Interceptor, http://www.laser-interceptorusa.com/, or listen to those that have no vested interest in your install. Don't actually research or listen to those that have actually installed and personally tested different installs.
After all, we need cannon fodder like yourself to absorb those tickets for us.
Last chance, get smart on installs or suffer the consequences.

Don't need sarcasm Walt. I get the point. He said because I don't have a front tag that they will try to hit a light and that the way they are set up it should work fine. I guess the only way to know who's right is a test.

i also have 9500ci and i initially agreesd with u..

but i went and re-read the install manual.. and there is no mention that it must be facing forward at 90 deg.

only thing stressed in the manual is that it must not be obstructed and it must be horizontal to the ground.

i then watched the install video by professionals and they didn't mention the importance of the 'straight ahead' either (video 2 of 4)..

You dont need a front plate to get a return from a lidar gun. ANY somewhat flat surface will give you a return. Do most police target front plate or head light? Yes, but a good lidar shooter can't hit other things. (I don't want to give details on a public forum). You also have to understand at 4000-5000 feet away they are just aiming for the front of your car. Try a 200 yard shot with out a scope. Most will do it much closer 1000-2000 feet. All I am saying is get your set up tested were you see it first hand before you go relying on it. I think you will be surprised that your set up will fail and fail hard!!
Adjusting one of my heads a few degrees 4-5 tops made a BIG improvement (it was towed out).
You can also look here about head alignment. Yes it is for LI but it holds ture for all heads.

Sorry about the sarcasm. I was attempting to get you to reevaluate your position. Keep in mind, there are a few individuals on this board that have personally installed as well as personally tested their vehicles with multiple guns. There are also some that have actual experience shooting multiple guns. I am one. I've seen your install many times. It's the easiest to do. Simply use 3M double stick tape and stick it along the lines of the car. IT WILL FAIL any test! Don't believe me? Then find some Lidar guns and test your application. No hostility here, just trying to help you.

At this point, there are more people telling me they need to be square than not, so I am going to bring it back and get them adjusted. I haven't heard anyone say if they are square they won't work well, so I'll go with the majority. It's a pain in the butt considering the place is 30 minutes away in the opposite direction of where I work. Oh well..

Ok, went back to Samm Sound and they made the laser jammers square. However, now after about a 15 mile ride home I'm getting a "check receiver wiring" message. What a pain in the ***!". I have to go back yet again! I don't think it's related (maybe it is..), but now my key remote lock/unlock doesn't work either.
