Finally found my 997!

After a long search I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a 997 S! I had been looking for an '06 C2S or C4S for some time with a target price of 55k... My search had been all over CA and some out of state. I came close a couple of times but held out for the condition, color and options I really wanted.
A local 2 owner '05 C2S 6-speed with 23k miles popped up for 46k and I thought it was worth a look---I almost skipped it based on other posts I've read about the '05 cars. When I found out it was CPO and had the motor replaced at 12k miles I figured it was a no brainer. I purchased for 45.5k from the second owner in Danville. It is basalt black with full leather in natural gray (very dark gray). Beautiful car! The owner purchased CPO at 6k miles from Porsche of Fremont. At 12k miles it had the feared IMS failure (2/05 car) and Porsche of Fremont put in a new motor. I've driven quite a few and it feels very strong. The original owner had clear bra installed on all forward facing surfaces---including lights, mirrors etc. Car is near flawless. The clear bra is starting to show a little age but I figure that can be replaced down the road. I spoke to the service manager at Porsche Fremont familiar with the car and had Walnut Creek Porsche go thru it as well before purchase. I'm super excited!!! Here are the options:

Full leather
Dual power seats
Sports Chrono
Navi
Bose
Park dist control

The only option I could do with out it is the park distance control but oh well... These photos are from a cell phone---I'll post better ones soon.

Looking to add 7mm spacers and clear side markers off the bat. Possibly Tubi exhaust, factory short shift kit and Carrera Sport wheels down the road?! This will not be my DD but I'm looking to drive it often---no gargage queen here!

Cheers.

Al is that you?

AWL,

Nice new car, I have the park distance control on my car, and I thought that it was a waste, but I must say that I have used it a few times.

Enjoy.

Nice car, nice options. Sometimes I wish I had the park distance control feature, as it is hard to judge where your bumper is sometimes. It is nice to see someone who has the patience and perseverance to wait for the right car. Enjoy!

Nice, I think I actually checked out this car in my search and since there's not many cars w/ PDC, I'm pretty sure its the same one. Previous owner in the Blackhawk community?

Congrats on the car. It looks great.
Why can't I find a deal like this... I've been looking for 3 months!
Maybe mine will pop up soon too.

I wouldn't mind buying a 05 that had it's motor replaced. They replace it with a new model motor that won't have IMS failure right?

Where did you find the listing for the car?

Hey Alan-
It must be the same car---this was in Blackhawk. How long ago were you looking---what was he asking? He mentioned asking more in the past. How is your 05 C2S? Any advice?

Cheers.

I was told that the replacement motors are updated with the latest parts---so RMS or IMS should not be an issue. All replacement motors come with a 2 year warranty---peace of mind if the car you find is not certified.

I actually found this car on Craigslist---SFBayArea, Orange County, and Los Angeles seem to be especially active for Porsche sales. I checked Autotrader, Cars.com and ebay daily as well. I was close to flying down to Southern California before finding this one--the selection seems best down there. Sports Trend in Studio City had quite a few to choose from last week www.stasales.com ---might be worth a look! Good luck with your search!!

I had the motor replaced on my base 05. The new motor definitley feels stronger than the first one in the car and give piece of mind if you decide to buy an 05.
