Anyway, the net result is some scrapes right on the very bottom of the forward facing part of front bumper. They're down to the primer. Anyone know if it's easy to get these repainted, and if so what the likely cost might be? And anyone know of a good repair shop here in the Bay Area?

Got the perfect fix. I'm getting the contact info and will post it soon. He will drive out to your place and fix on the spot. He did my brother in law's BMW 550 and matched the paint perfectly and you could not tell there was any paint done. Very good work!! Nice price too!!

I will get the info here when I get it from my BIL.
